How will I contribute?

Leading and Developing a strong team

  • Growing your squads’ strengths through coaching, mentoring, and enabling great opportunities

  • Building a great team dynamic through engagement, organizing around the squads’ strengths and skills and/or adding the right people to the squad

Delivering Quality Products

  • Team up with product owners, architects, and software engineers to find problems and uncover opportunities for delivering incredible new business value through software.

  • Roll out products, tech upgrades, and services using a flexible and scalable architectural design.

  • Keep these critical apps running smoothly, taking charge of their reliability, security, and performance.

  • Influence and lead discussions with our strategic business partners to push our solutions forward and deliver value faster.

  • Be the bridge that helps our team bring Manulife’s tech vision to life.

  • Keep the momentum going by ensuring we hit key achievements with consistent and coordinated efforts.

  • Stay tuned into impact of changes, unblocking the team, mitigating issues and keeping senior leaders in the know on implementations.

  • Turn complex program requirements into clear technical specs that work across a variety of projects.

  • Evaluate and define existing technology standards to ensure compliance with program-level requirements.

  • Collaborate with partner teams to improve process flows when needed.

  • Keep an eye on new tech and policy trends that could impact our daily operations.

  • Always aim to go above and beyond purpose and quality requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • With 4+ years of technology leadership experience, leading teams of 8+ people and are passionate about helping your team grow within the organization.

  • A proven track record of building and leading high-performing tech teams, inspiring them both locally and remotely in a hybrid work setup.

  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and thrive in a rapidly changing environment; you love the challenge of leading multiple teams and being part of a larger movement to transform engineering culture.

  • You're more than comfortable diving into the full technology stack, from new tech to legacy systems, covering everything from Web to API, Backend systems like Mainframe, Business Applications, and external customer-facing web portals.

  • You're well-versed in agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other methods to speed up the delivery of new features.

  • You have an interest in constant learning from both wins and losses, staying open to change and continuous improvement.

  • Your organizational and problem-solving skills help you navigate through creative challenges.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills, making it easy for you to clearly articulate and communicate technical visions, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels of the organization.

  • You've got experience with large-scale software delivery and/or Agile transformation at scale in big enterprise environments.

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,190.00 CAD - $171,210.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
