We have an excellent career opportunity for an Engineering Technician supporting the Alberta and Saskatchewan region. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will conduct equipment inspections, support loss prevention activities, and assist with basic claims investigations. You will also provide technical information to our Engineering Underwriting team.
This role is ideal for candidates with building systems, electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance experience looking to grow into a specialized technical field.
Conduct onsite inspections of insured locations to understand equipment conditions, general risk exposures, and safe operating practices.
Complete routine jurisdictional inspections with support from senior engineering staff.
Assist in loss investigations, gathering information and documentation from first notice of loss through to final reporting.
Prepare clear and concise inspection reports using your ability to translate technical findings into easy-to-understand language.
Support repair approvals and follow-up documentation to ensure high standards in quality assurance.
Provide survey information to help develop quotes for unique or complex accounts.
Build positive working relationships with Brokers and accompany them on site visits to support marketing and client engagement activities.
2 to 4 years’ experience in building operations, commercial facility maintenance, industrial maintenance, or electrical/mechanical work.
Post‑secondary technical training, trades/apprentice training, or equivalent hands-on mechanical/electrical experience.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Self‑motivation, strong organization, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and comfort working with databases.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
What makes you stand out
Power Engineering (Class 3 or Class 2 preferred).
Electrical or instrumentation background
Knowledge of ASME codes
National Board Commission or a willingness to obtain if required.
CIP or CRM designation
