The Database Administrator in FNZ is technical in nature, and focuses on building, supporting and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases and reporting solutions. As part of the APAC Infrastructure team, the role will be responsible for the delivery of database support services to FNZ platforms and undertake SQL build and database management tasks as required. The role has optimization and database programming components as part of the custom FNZ platform development.
The responsibilities will include:
• Design, build, maintain and upgrade database servers in-line with FNZ’s technology lifecycle and roadmap, to maximise performance and ensure the high availability requirements of FNZ’s environments are met.
• Ensure databases are optimized through the implementation and monitoring of maintenance tasks.
• Develop, manage and test backup and recovery solutions to ensure the availability of data and protect against data loss.
• Ensure the security and integrity of data through managing database users and access control procedures. Assist in maintaining an accurate asset inventory.
• Optimise database performance through monitoring, identification, analysis and resolution of performance bottlenecks.
• Manage storage and capacity planning to account for the requirements of data growth and data archiving.
• Manage incident, problem and change management via FNZ’s Service Desk ticketing solution.
• Participate in risk management and information security initiatives, supporting internal and external audits. Manage escalations to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Work with the wider Infrastructure team to support other relevant technology / client initiatives. Implement new projects to meet delivery timelines.
• Support process improvement & automation, compiling and updating documentation of processes as required.
• Comply with FNZ’s corporate policies and regulatory guidelines.
What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate?
• 2+ years relevant professional experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator. Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong Windows OS skills required to support upgrades, SQL Server HA/DR technologies including SAN clustering/snapshots.
• Extensive database build, maintenance, optimization, automation, troubleshooting experience.
• Technical knowledge / experience of tools to support database 3rd party backup solutions / monitoring / build and automation, for example VMWare, Commvault, Nagios, Ansible, Splunk, PowerShell.
• Strong track record in a dynamic, highly available, mission critical production environment. Experience within multi-tiered web environments desirable.
• Experience supporting data warehouse environments and Integration Services (SSIS).
• Well-developed written and oral communications skills, excellent self-management and time management skills. Excellent communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
• Superior problem-solving capabilities and the ability to multitask and re-prioritise work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Willingness to work on-call (with attractive allowances) when required.
