Job Description:
As a Senior Business Insights Analyst on the Credit Risk Data Support team within Canadian Credit Cards and Personal Lending, you will be responsible for performing data mining & data analytics to support Issue Management and Regulatory projects. You will play a key role identifying impacted populations and financial impacts for issues / incidents as well as various ad-hoc data requests for regulatory initiatives. The primary accountabilities of the role are:
- Delivery of complex data analytics request leveraging a variety of data sources using SQL and Python.
- Work closely with Issue Management and Product Owners to define requirements, perform analytics and present findings.
- Perform ad-hoc data mining and analytics to support regulatory initiatives.
- Design solutions for data retrieval to meet business needs in an effective and efficient manner.
- Provide subject matter expertise on data as it relates to business processes, issues and incidents.
- Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and conduct secondary code reviews.
- Participate fully as a member of the team, providing insight and recommendations, and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Willingness to broaden technical skillset and increase knowledge of new tools and systems
CUSTOMER
- Apply understanding of respective business knowledge and strategies to produce relevant and meaningful analysis and materials to support the creation and maturation of business goals and objectives.
- Develop analysis and proper visualization or presentation to illustrate business trends and identify areas of business opportunities.
- Produce insights and recommend business actions to support business strategy and/or solve business problems.
- Work in partnership with various functional areas to provide day-to-day support and delivery of analytics.
- Execute on data requests accurately and within a timely manner.
- Represent functional area as an analytics & insights professional and key resource.
- Act as a bridge to translate business requirements to analytics and reporting needs for a given domain while leveraging tools/ techniques/ methods that can be easily interpreted by the target audience.
- Provides day-to-day support and delivery of analytics insights and collateral.
- Contribute to the identification of key performance indicators.
SHAREHOLDER
- Provide suggestions, ideas, and opportunities to support business needs.
- Identify opportunities for business/revenue growth and/or efficiencies for an assigned business or function.
- Identify and investigate data/analytics related issues.
- Ensure data analysis and insights are reviewed to validate accuracy and minimize any potential errors.
- Develop analysis to corroborate initial proof of concept.
- May be required to educate/train business users on how to integrate analytics into decisions.
- Provide recommendations on financial / monetization goals to deliver on (e.g. quantify functional value, cost savings and revenue generated etc.)
- Build business requirements and facilitate project execution to develop insights.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative methodologies to interpret and present data effectively and clearly.
- Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area.
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary.
- Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development / delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience.
- Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
- May lead work streams by acting as a project lead / subject matter expert for small scale projects / initiatives in accordance with project management methodologies

- Work independently as the senior analyst / subject matter expert and may coach and educate others.
- Considered a subject matter expert within a given area.
- Oversee and/or independently perform tasks from end to end.
- Focus on short to medium -term issues (e.g. monthly-quarterly)
- Generally, reports to a Senior / Manager role.
EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION
- Demonstrated knowledge of SQL, Python and cloud computing programming
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superior time management skills; able to successfully manage multiple assignments with competing priorities
- Ability to take initiative and work independently under tight timelines
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
- Creative, Critical, Conceptual thinker, ability to wade through data and arrive at conclusions
- Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate analysis to business partners
- Motivated to constantly strive to find innovative ways to enhance capabilities
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of TSYS TS2 and CIF is an asset
- Experience with TD Credit Card, MBNA Credit Card or Personal Lending data is an asset
- Experience with Azure Cloud and Databricks is an asset
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence is an asset
