Reporting to the HR Director based in Tokyo, you will serve as a strategic partner to our leadership team, develop and implement innovative HR initiatives that retains and engage top talent, foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and drive business outcomes. You will have the autonomy to craft compelling employee experiences, and provide expert guidance on complex HR issues. With a focus on data-driven decision making, you will leverage analytics to inform business decisions, identify areas for improvement, and measure the impact of HR initiatives on business results.

About the Role

As a HR Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • To formulate and implement initiatives such as reorganization plans and personnel strategies in accordance with business needs in collaboration with department heads and managers in charge, and plan and implement necessary measures including changes in job responsibilities, job transfers, promotion, demotion, training, coaching, mentoring and review of compensation.
  • Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition team on recruitment efforts and support newcomers with an effective new employee induction training program; and take follow-up measures to enable them to adapt themselves to their new work environment and to effectively perform their tasks.
  • To set department and individual goals base on company goals and business strategies; implement systems and processes for improving the performance of employees; and effectively implement a compensation plan linked to the performance evaluation process and evaluation results.
  • To respond to enquiries from managers and general employees regarding the personnel system, the rules of employment, and other personnel and labor management issues, and if any problem arises, provide support to resolve the problem. In addition, when legal knowledge or procedures are required to resolve the problem, to provide necessary advice, support and solutions to the parties involved.
  • To identify organizational and managerial issues in order to strengthen and improve employees’ engagement, create action plans to achieve the improvements, and implement the action plans with the management team.

About You

As a HR Manager, you should possess the following skills/experiences:

  • Extensive experience in the capacity of a HR Generalist, with knowledge in compensation or training/organizational development and/or relevant practical experience.
  • The capability to effectively communicate with various types/levels of individuals and managers under various situations both verbally and in writing.
  • The capability to independently make judgements, take actions and perform multiple tasks in lieu of prioritization areas.
  • Lead by example and cultivate a culture of curiosity, agility, and collaboration within the HR function.
  • The capability to handle pressure effectively.
  • The capability to make appropriate judgements to resolve problems regarding complex matters in unpredictable and uncertain situations.
  • Native-level Japanese language and fluent/high-level English language skills is a must.
