About This Opportunity 

Play a key role in educating future generations and creating an exceptional student experience as a Teaching Focused Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in the Tourism discipline at UQ Business School. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your teaching impact through leadership in course coordination aligned with UQ values.  You will also engage in internal and external collaborations that influence teaching practices, policies, and/or knowledge related to Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management.

Key responsibilities will include: 

• Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.

• Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent in Tourism, Hospitality and/or Event Management or a related discipline.

Additionally for Level B, you will demonstrate:

• Evidence of high-quality university teaching in Tourism/Hospitality/Events across a variety of settings, including small and large groups with course coordination responsibilities.
• An emerging national profile of teaching impact in Tourism/Hospitality/Events and/or emerging national profile in education research in the discipline and/or emerging national research profile with high-quality outputs in the discipline.
• Participation in projects that improve curriculum, pedagogy, or assessment practices of others, with funded projects being particularly desirable.
• Participation in curriculum development at the program and/or course level in Tourism/Hospitality/Events.
• Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.
• A profile of professional expertise that complements and/or supplements the expertise that currently exists within the School and the broader University.

Additionally for Level C, you will demonstrate:

• Established record of teaching excellence and expertise at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels across a variety of settings, including small and large groups with course coordination responsibilities in Tourism/Hospitality/Events.
• National and/or international recognition for teaching impact in the discipline and/or national/international profile in education research in the discipline and/or national/international research profile with high-quality outputs in the discipline.
• A record of successfully initiating and managing projects that improve curriculum, pedagogy, or assessment practices of others, with funded projects being particularly desirable.
• Experience in educational leadership at the program, plan, or equivalent levels with evidence of effective impact on the teaching and/or assessment practices of peers.
• Evidence of leadership in curriculum development at the program and/or course level in Tourism/Hospitality/Events
• A record of meaningful internal service roles, including the successful mentoring of less experienced staff, in conjunction with evidence of leadership in external activities.
• Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.
• A profile of professional expertise that complements and/or supplements the expertise that currently exists within the School and the broader University.
