Overview
This full-time, hybrid Research Assistant will serve as a core operational partner within a dynamic, grant-funded research portfolio focused on global health, implementation science, and clinical and public health outcomes. The position will support multiple ongoing studies led by the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of day-to-day research operations, including coordinating data collection and organization; assisting with IRB and regulatory submissions; preparing grant applications and progress reports; conducting detailed literature reviews; supporting the development of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations; and assisting with qualitative and quantitative data analysis, coding, and interpretation. The Research Assistant will also organize and support study meetings, manage scheduling and documentation, serve as a liaison with domestic and international research collaborators, and ensure that timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements are met with precision and consistency. The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks across concurrent projects while working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic environment. This role requires a proactive, highly organized individual who will anticipate project needs, track progress, resolve administrative barriers, and ensure that no tasks fall through the cracks, contributing directly to the efficiency, integrity, and impact of the research enterprise.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational precision, with demonstrated ability to track complex study tasks, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple concurrent grants.
2. Demonstrated experience coordinating research operations, including data collection, documentation, and management in compliance with established study protocols.
3. Strong competency in preparing and supporting IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, and grant-related administrative materials.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to synthesize scientific information for reports, manuscripts, and presentations and to liaise effectively with collaborators and research partners.
5. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced research environment, anticipate project needs, resolve operational barriers, and ensure consistent follow-through so that no tasks fall through the cracks.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
1. Bachelor’s degree in public health, global health, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field.
2. Prior experience supporting grant-funded research in clinical, global health, or health systems settings, particularly involving multi-site or international collaborations.
3. Demonstrated experience with IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, or research compliance processes.
4. Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis, including experience with tools such as REDCap, Excel, or statistical software.
5. Proven experience assisting with or contributing to academic manuscripts, abstracts, posters, or grant applications in a research environment.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for research projects. 2. Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Modifies and plans research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. Assists in research design. 3. Writes and edits material for publication and presentation. Reports on status of research activities. Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance. 4. Schedules and coordinates research activities. Identifies and recruits study participants. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. 5. May assist in preparing financial information and monitoring budgets. 6. Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.
