Business Developer - Houston, TX

Salary: $68,000-$86,500 commensurate with experience

At GEICO, our associates are the heart of the company. We’re looking for Business Developers in our Houston, TX office who are driven, solution-oriented, and ready to take our business-to-business agency sales team to the next level.

As a Business Developer, you will deliver strategic sales initiatives with a defined territory of agencies and build their book of GEICO business through approved underwriting practices. Business Developers will use their strong ability to influence, along with analytical and decision-making skills to provide guidance and support that promotes preference for GEICO products and services. This role acts as a subject matter expert of product lines and systems to provide recommendations that improve customer experience, sales closure, and retention with new and existing customers in the business-to-business space. Business Developers help their agencies achieve sales targets through actionable goal setting and understanding of their business needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Must have 1 year of sales experience (business-to-business sales a plus)
  • Must have 2 years of insurance experience
  • Incumbent would be required to work full-time in office - must live within commuting distance to 21420 Merchants Way, Katy, TX 77449
  • Highly effective oral and written communicator – must be comfortable presenting, persuading, and networking through multiple channels (in-person, virtually, over the phone, etc.)
  • Ability to work individually and as a team collaborator with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing data to make informed decisions that support growth initiatives
  • Knowledge of industry changes, technology, and desire for continued learning
    Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent

    Preferred Skills:

    • A bachelor’s degree
    • Prior experience with caseload management and customer follow-up
    • Prior experience working with different lines of insurance a plus (P&C, Commercial, Life/Health)
