Job Description:
As the Head of Human Resources Hong Kong, this role reports to Chief Human Resources Officer, Sun Life International HuBS and has matrix reporting line to Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong.
As a member of the leadership team, the key scope of this role includes oversight of the Hong Kong HRBP Team and establishes the strategic HR direction to support the business growth strategy.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a forward-looking HR strategy that supports the organization's short-term and long-term objectives. Identify emerging trends and issues to ensure HR practices are aligned with industry best practices.
- Work with the CEO and senior leadership team to instill and foster a high-performance, inclusive and purpose-driven culture
- Drive the talent management agenda for leadership positions and succession planning for critical roles. Strengthen and build organizational capability and talent bench strength for succession planning to key leadership roles
- Maintain effective internal controls and risk management to protect the company’s well-being and reputation
- Work with senior management on strategic initiatives such as M&A and partnership alliances
- Partner with COEs to facilitate organizational change initiatives. Work closely with senior leaders and managers to ensure successful implementation of change initiatives, keeping employees engaged and motivated during the process.
- Utilize HR analytics to measure and track HR metrics. Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead a team of HR Business Partners, working closely with COEs, in providing a full spectrum of HR operations and services to the employees and delivering value to the business
- Strengthen and build organizational capability and relevant talent bench strength to support the key business priorities.

- Strategic thinking: able to support CEO Hong Kong to formulate People and Culture strategy and deliver on the ambition and strategic priorities.
- Org Design Capability: have the knowledge and the experiences to create effective structure, systems, people to align with the organizational strategy.
- Coaching: possess the skills and abilities to provide advice and coach senior management team
- Data driven mindset: Ability to leverage HR analytics and data-driven insights to support decision-making and ensure HR programs and initiatives are effective.
- Business Acumen: Understands the business operations, industry trends, and can align HR practices to support the organization's growth and success.
- Change Management Expertise: Able to manage and lead organizational changes, including structure, system and people change initiatives.
- Leadership Skills: The ability to lead and manage a team effectively, providing guidance and direction to achieve organizational goals.
Nice- to-haves:
- Legal Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with employment laws, regulations, and HR policies to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Insurance experience: knowledge and experience in insurance or financial sector is an added asset
- Knowledge of HR Technology: Familiarity with HR software, tools, and systems to streamline HR processes and enhance efficiency.
- International Experience: Previous experience working in a global company or handling HR issues related to multiple countries, cultures, and jurisdictions.
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master degree in business administration or related field
