JR62417 Technology CAD / Device Engineer

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Job Description:

As a member of the Micron TCAD Team, you will support Technology Development by designing and optimizing active devices (next generation advanced CMOS and memory cells).

Exploiting physics-based process and device modeling tools, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot issues, improve device performance and reliability, and ultimately contribute to future technology nodes area, power and cost scaling.

You will partner with several global teams, such as: Process Integration and Cell/CMOS development teams to analyze and suggest new experiments to optimize devices; Quality and Reliability engineers to understand and mitigate device degradation mechanisms; Characterization, Param and Probe teams to collect electrical data for model calibration; Compact Modeling engineers to enable early Design based on your simulation results.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Select the best tools and the most appropriate physical models along with high quality meshes to obtain accurate simulation results
  • Extract from DC, AC and transient TCAD simulations all relevant device metrics (I-V and C-V curves; parametric data; disturbs, data retention and endurance metrics; …)
  • Analyze sensitivities to geometry, doping and process variables, bias and Temperature
  • Extract intrinsic variability information using Monte Carlo statistical modeling
  • Perform virtual DOEs and select the most promising experiments for SWR lots
  • Troubleshoot process and yield issues; help understand the physical mechanisms responsible for unexpected electrical data
  • Optimize device performance; reduce variability and degradation under stress
  • Predict geometrical and bias scaling trends; investigate ultimate device scaling limits
  • Propose and validate new memory cell architectures
  • Drive and support exploration of new materials and of new memory cell concepts
  • Contribute to validate models, calibrate parameters and improve modeling tools

Requirements:

  • Strong background in semiconductor device physics
  • Solid experience in physics-based analytical and/or numerical (TCAD) modeling
  • Understanding of basic circuits and of memory cell arrays operation
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and at least one programming language (C/C++, python, …)
  • Fluent verbal and written English
  • Self-motivation, tenacity and drive to find creative solutions
  • Passion to succeed and ability to independently learn and explore
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills

Additional optional qualifications:

  • Work experience in a semiconductor manufacturing company
  • Experience in use of commercial (e.g. Synopsys Sentaurus, Silvaco, Cogenda, Global TCAD Solutions) or open-source TCAD software
  • Experience in electronic device optimization
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication process
  • Background in data-driven modeling, Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Data Science
  • Knowledge of numerical methods for Partial Differential Equations solution
  • Experience in electrical device characterization, compact modeling, data analysis or software development for scientific applications
  • Experience in use of Matlab / JMP / Spice / COMSOL Multiphysics / Layout / EDA tools

Minimum Education / Experience: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Material Science with experience in semiconductor devices
