About the Role

As an HP Indigo Field Service Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert supporting our customers across the San Francisco Bay Area. In this hands‑on, customer‑facing role, you will deliver advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronic support for HP Indigo digital printing presses—ensuring reliable operation, minimizing downtime, and maximizing customer satisfaction.

This position requires a strong technical mindset, independence in the field, and a commitment to continuous learning. You will also participate in ramp‑up training and develop skills to teach end users and service partners, building your capabilities as both a technician and a trainer.


This role requires up to 50% travel throughout the region for on‑site service.

The candidate must sit out of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Support & Relationship Management

  • Maintain exceptional customer satisfaction by identifying technical needs, clarifying requirements, and delivering timely resolutions.

  • Manage customer‑relation issues with professionalism, escalating concerns as needed to ensure proper follow‑through.

  • Serve as the primary on‑site and remote support contact for HP Indigo press customers.

Technical Diagnostics, Repair & Service Delivery

  • Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair for HP Indigo digital print systems.

  • Conduct system installation, commissioning, upgrades, operator training, and preventive maintenance.

  • Support a diverse range of customer environments, including standard and specialized systems.

Training & Ramp-Up Development

  • Participate in structured ramp‑up training to build deep technical knowledge of Indigo systems.

  • Learn to deliver technical instruction and operator training for customers and authorized service providers.

  • Grow into a role capable of providing hands‑on teaching, workflow guidance, and best‑practice coaching.

Proactive Monitoring & Issue Prevention

  • Use monitoring tools and methodologies to identify early performance issues and recommend preventive actions.

  • Help optimize press performance to reduce downtime and improve customer operations.

Documentation & Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of service work, parts usage, software updates, and technical reports.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements aligned with global service standards.

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, data confidentiality requirements, and operational policies.

Independent Execution & Problem Solving

  • Manage daily service activities with minimal supervision, applying sound judgment and technical expertise.

  • Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and share technical insights with the broader service team.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, technical certification, or equivalent hands‑on training.

  • 4–6+ years of related field service experience, ideally involving HP products, industrial printers, electromechanical systems, digital printing equipment, or other mission‑critical industrial machinery.

Complexity

The role includes moderately complex technical assignments requiring strong diagnostics ability, independent problem‑solving, and a balance of technical and customer-facing skills.

Salary

The pay range for this position is $28.85 to $36.05 USD per hour (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
