Position Summary...
The Senior Director of Data Engineering for Walmart Data Ventures is a strategic leadership role responsible for steering a global team to build and maintain cutting-edge data products, specifically the customer-centric Walmart Luminate suite. This role will oversee the Data Ventures Core Platform, Data Ventures Platform services (DV Foundation Services, DV QE) and Data Customer and Analytics Data Foundations Services (DCA DFS will include DV l2 as part of optimization to operate at scale).
As the Senior Director, you will spearhead the global engineering vision for Walmart Data Ventures, leading a high-performing, distributed team in delivering best-in-class, scalable data products in Walmart Luminate suite of products, while driving a culture of operational excellence, startup agility, and strategic value realization to transform the retail ecosystem.

The Data & Customer analytics team in US Omni and Platform tech is dedicated to analyzing customer data, leveraging insights to inform business decisions, and driving improvements in customer experiences across Walmart's retail operations, utilizing advanced data science techniques and tools to understand customer behavior and trends at scale.

Functioning within a startup-like environment, this leader drives the complete engineering charter—from establishing DevOps/SRE best practices to managing end-to-end development of scalable Big Data and microservices architectures—while collaborating with cross-functional partners to solve complex business problems. The position requires a technically strong executive with over 15 years of experience in data integration and infrastructure who can translate business needs into analytical solutions and mentor a high-performing, geographically distributed engineering team.

What you'll bring:
- Good academic record and graduated (B.Tech/ M.Tech) from a reputed institution
- Bachelors with 17-22 years of experience OR Masters with 15-20 years of experience in building data integration solutions involving Big Data technologies.
- 10+ years of experience in building and scaling infrastructure systems, establishing DevOps practices, building SRE teams and supporting mission critical applications.
- A strong understanding of data and reporting engines, data modelling and warehousing, and data transformations and pipelines for supporting real time and batch-oriented events processing.
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle / My SQL), non-relational databases (Cassandra, HBase) and Big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark
- Experience in building end-to-end data products (DaaS) using latest technologies and architecture (like microservices architecture).
- Experience with distributed real time / micro batch computation systems such as Spark
- Experience in the eCommerce domain will be a huge positive
