About the team and the role:
The European Business Development team drives eBay’s growth by bringing high-potential sellers onto the platform across priority categories throughout Europe. The team focuses on identifying new seller opportunities, building strong pipelines, and helping sellers launch successfully on eBay.
As the France & Italy Pod Lead, you will lead a team of 4–8 Business Development Managers focused on growing seller acquisition across the French and Italian markets. You will combine people leadership with direct ownership of strategic opportunities, helping your team prioritise high-impact activities while delivering against growth and activation goals.
Based in eBay’s Paris or Milan office in a hybrid working model, you will partner closely with colleagues across Category, Marketing, Global Customer Experience, Operations, Trust, Legal, Finance, and Product teams to support seller acquisition and activation. This role offers the opportunity to help shape eBay’s growth strategy across two of Europe’s most important markets.
What you will accomplish:
Lead the end-to-end acquisition, onboarding, and activation strategy for enterprise, strategic, and upper-SMB sellers across France and Italy, delivering against seller growth and sales targets.
Build, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Managers, establishing territory plans, coverage models, and priorities aligned with European and global business objectives.
Design and implement market-specific acquisition programs, including outreach strategies, events, webinars, and partner initiatives that improve conversion rates and accelerate seller activation.
Own a portfolio of high-priority seller opportunities, leading complex negotiations and onboarding efforts while modelling effective deal management and stakeholder engagement.
Maintain a healthy pipeline and accurate forecasting processes, partnering with Analytics and Finance teams to monitor performance, track progress, and provide visibility to leadership.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to remove barriers for new sellers, improve onboarding experiences, and deliver market-specific initiatives that support seller success.
Use market intelligence, seller feedback, and performance data to identify opportunities, prioritise actions, and continuously improve acquisition strategies across France and Italy.
What you will bring:
Experience in business development, sales, marketplace expansion, or related commercial roles, ideally within e-commerce or technology platforms, with a track record of delivering results in France and/or Italy.
Experience leading and developing small sales or business development teams, including coaching, hiring, performance management, and fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
Ability to set clear goals, establish effective operating rhythms, and create accountability across teams working in multiple markets.
Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret performance data, pipeline metrics, and market insights and translate them into actionable plans.
Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities involving large merchants, brands, integrators, or solution partners while balancing growth objectives with quality and risk considerations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, senior stakeholders, external sellers, and business partners.
Proficiency with CRM and sales tools. Experience using AI-enabled tools to support workflow efficiency, data analysis, or reporting is beneficial.
