The Opportunity 

It is an exciting time to join the Strategy and Planning team within HP’s Personal Systems group, a $37B business within an innovative Fortune 100 company. The strategy team sets and aligns the strategic agenda for the Personal Systems (PS) business, collaborating with executives across business divisions to transform insights into strategic actions that yield tangible outcomes. 

As a Strategy Director, you would be responsible for driving HP Personal Systems' strategic direction, ensuring that it remains competitive and adaptable in a rapidly changing business landscape. You will inform the strategic choices by conducting in-depth analyses, synthesizing the analytical results, testing hypotheses, and forming recommendations. You will also set up the various initiatives for success by planning for the implementation with the business owners.

The role works with large, cross-functional teams to facilitate projects and collaborates across businesses to align strategy with organizational goals. 

This role reports to the SVP of Strategy (Personal Systems) and works collaboratively with executives (President, Functional Vice Presidents and General Managers) and working teams (Directors, Senior Managers, etc), and leads a team of strategists and planners.  

Responsibilities 

  • Be a thought leader and influencer at the most senior levels within HP 

  • Lead multiple key strategic initiatives that impact various business segments and their unique strategies 

  • Identify and measure competitive risks and market opportunities, provide strategic guidance for investment prioritization and resource allocation 

  • Deliver analytically rigorous and data-driven insights to support actionable strategic recommendations, business prioritization, and business strategy communications 

  • Drive continuous engagement with the executive leadership team on strategy review and development 

  • Work collaboratively and effectively across a global matrix organization to build alignment and ensure successful execution

Motivation and Impression: Must have a strong competitive drive and the ability to lead and motivate the organization and influence successful change. 

Relationships and Interpersonal Skills: He/she must be able to build and sustain excellent relationships at multiple levels in the workplace. Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills required. 

Builds Organizational Capability Through Team Development: He/she will lead the building of high-performing teams committed to organizational goals, will foster collaboration among individuals and teams, and will use teams to address relevant issues. He/she can establish rapport and effective relationships and let people be responsible for their work, sharing wins, successes and accountability. 

 

Education And Experience 

  • MBA or demonstrable equivalent 

  • Total experience of 10+ years in strategy consulting, growth strategy, business planning, product or category management  

  • Demonstrated quantifiable results of leading business strategy projects at a corporate/business level 

  • Led teams at a Strategy consulting firm or Fortune 500 company 

  • Experience in technology industries strongly preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $210,000.00 -- $260,000.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
