As part of our continued expansion across Europe, Samsung Germany is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Technical Manager to oversee ORAN Network activities related to its operations with a Tier-1 Operator in Germany. You will manage and oversee the Design, Test/Validation and Operational activities ensuring Samsung deliver is highly effectively and Samsung’s product and service capabilities are to the forefront.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who can demonstrate a proven track record in delivering complex mobile network projects and has extensive experience in creating and maintaining highly satisfied customers.

This role is based in Dusseldorf but will require travel to other project locations in Germany. You may on occasion be asked to travel to other European cities and to the Samsung Head Quarters in Korea.

This is a permanent position reporting to the Head of Operation in Samsung Networks Europe Organisation.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide input to the Head of Operation for resource estimates, R&R and Statement of Work preparation.
  • You will ensure a resource model that maximises resource utilisation and a ‘do it once’ philosophy to ensure maximise re-use
  • Ensuring resourcing needs are made known in advance of requirements. Ensure SoW’s for Samsung Global Service Centre (GSC) execution are agreed and signed to ensure sufficient ramp up. Ensure GSC team performance is optimum by ensuring clear R&R and feedback is provided to improve performance
  • Own the relationship with the customer for design, testing and in-life phases ensuring regular engagement and strong relationships are built
  • Identifying the resourcing needs of the project and implementing any new hiring in specific markets and with our GSC to support the delivery of this
  • Responsible for the Network Design (HLD/LLD), Lab deployment and test case validation and in-life operations according to the agreed R&R
  • Collaborate with the Samsung performance team to support them during the in-life phase of the project to achieve maximum stability and performance to ensure successful execution
  • Responsibility for the in-life operations phase including technical management of incidents, case management and be responsible for the interface to both GSC Level 3 and Samsung RnD for corrections and RCA delivery to customers.
  • Provide input to the Operational Manual and assist in the operational readiness stream including all touch points and process flows
  • Defining the CaaS project service requirements across the project delivery and operational phases and feed these requirements into the associated CaaS vendor so that R&R and accountability is clear
  • Ensure the technical deliveries are completed to a high standard and that phased sign off is achieved by working with the Account Manager, Solution Manager and Performance team to present the outcomes.
  • Full accountability for successful delivery in the areas under your direct responsibility
  • Responsible for development and management of all process/procedures associated with the delivery and operational SLA
  • Provide regular internal reporting to all collaborators including progress, risks, issues & achievement adherence
  • Handle any 3rd party suppliers if applicable ensuring that they deliver according to contractual commitments and to the highest of standards e.g. CaaS supplier
  • Responsible for the performance of our partner organisations (GSC) who will support Samsung in excelling in the delivery and in-life support of the network
  • You will build and maintain excellent relationships from the outset throughout the customer Technical organisations up to Head of Function level thereby leading to a highly engaged and satisfied customers that maximises the chances of further opportunities & growth
  • Ensure sign off at each technical breakthrough including Design and Test completion
  • Deliver a high standard of documentation across the Design, Test and in-life functions and ensure a repository of documentation is maintained

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Educated to Degree Level, preferably in Telecoms, IT or Computer Science
  • Demonstrated ability in the Mobile Telecommunication Market
  • Self-confident and firm stance towards the Customer, Partners, Staff and Subcontractors
  • Proven ability to control the performance of Staff / Partners / Subcontractors
  • Excellent Knowledge of Open Radio Access Technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud and virtualisation technologies and Kuberneties/Linux
  • Know-how and experience in mobile radio networks (GSM/LTE/NR/ORAN)
  • Deep understanding of 2G/4G/5G call processing and signalling
  • Extensive experience for lab activities, integration, testing/validation, performances analysis via counters & traces
  • Extensive knowledge of Network Design methodologies and design preparation (HLD/LLD) in RAN/vRAN
  • Initiative and autonomy in approach to work
