Job Summary:
To assist in maintaining appropriate staffing levels for each shift in accordance with established staffing patterns and patient classification levels. To perform miscellaneous administrative duties.
Education & Experience
High school diploma/GED plus one (1) year of related experience.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: N/A
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing. Verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Monitors unit schedules and identifies shifts where potential shortages are expected.
- Assists with allocating resources to cover call-ins.
- Ensures appropriate ratio of nurses to patients in accordance with established procedures; obtains agency nurse or contacts personnel by phone to cover staffing shortfalls.
- Enters information such as sick calls and arrival and departure times into database.
- Provides general clerical support, answers telephones, and relays messages.
- Promotes UMMC goal of providing customer satisfaction when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
