The Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Director to lead our Data Engineering team, which includes data and analytics engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and delivery of our data infrastructure, pipelines, and analytics platforms. You will work closely with analysts, data scientists, and other cross-functional teams to ensure our data systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with our business objectives. This is a key leadership position that will shape the future of our data capabilities and influence the company’s decision-making processes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Data Engineering team, ensuring alignment with overall business and technology goals.
    • Collaborate with product management, data science, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
    • Lead initiatives to improve data quality, accessibility, and usability across the organization.
  • Team Management:
    • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data and analytics engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
    • Establish and enforce best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, testing, and deployment processes.
    • Drive talent acquisition, retention, and professional development within the team.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.
    • Ensure data systems are scalable, secure, and capable of supporting advanced analytics, machine learning initiatives, and the needs of analysts and data scientists.
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
    • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate data solutions with existing and new systems.
    • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Act as a liaison between the Data Engineering team and other departments, including analysts and data scientists, ensuring clear communication and alignment on data initiatives.
    • Work closely with business stakeholders to prioritize projects and allocate resources effectively.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to support data-driven decision-making.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including analysts and data scientists.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of leading and scaling data engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
    • Proficiency with modern data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS).
    • Experience with programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java.
    • Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data architecture best practices.
LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV or San Mateo, CA

Flexible hybrid schedule visiting our Las Vegas or San Mateo office three days a week (Tues-Thurs).
