The Leidos Office of the Chief Information Officer has an opening for an IT Enterprise Data Management Architect with a focus on both the overall Leidos IT enterprise architecture as well as IT related aspects of data strategy, governance and management. This critical position works directly with broad range of stakeholders – including the Data Strategy and Transformation organization – to meet the global needs of Leidos to support the business and enable the enterprise to execute its mission through the effective and efficient use of enterprise data.
As an Enterprise Management Data Architect, your responsibilities are aimed at aligning IT with business objectives, optimizing technology investments, and driving the development and realization of a robust and flexible IT architecture that supports the organization's long-term goals. Moreover, with a focus data strategy, governance and management, your role would involve leadership in driving the realization of a robust data management strategy through an architectural and IT leadership standpoint.
To excel in this role, you should possess strong technical knowledge across various architectural domains, such as application architecture, analytics, data and integration along with real-world experience in working in a data governance organization. Additionally, communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills are crucial for collaborating with diverse teams of technical and functional leaders in order to drive successful data strategy implementation.
Ideally, we're looking for someone who can support a full-time work location in the National Capital Region, but will consider 100% telework with 25% travel domestically as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture Practice:
- Standards and Best Practices: Define and promote the adoption of architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization. This ensures consistency, interoperability, and scalability of IT systems and solutions.
- Technology Roadmap: Develop and maintain technology roadmaps that outlines the evolution of IT systems and infrastructure. This includes identifying emerging technologies, assessing their relevance and potential impact, and aligning them with business goals and architectural principles.
- Solution Design and Evaluation: Work closely with project teams to provide architectural guidance during solution design and evaluation phases. This involves reviewing solution architectures, assessing technical feasibility, evaluating technology options, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Governance and Compliance: Establish governance frameworks and processes to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and security requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This includes ensuring data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity measures.
- Vendor Management: Partner with IT Service Lifecyle Managers to evaluate and select technology vendors, products, and services based on architectural requirements. Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with service-level agreements.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to IT teams and junior architects and engineers. This helps build organizational capabilities and ensures adherence to architectural principles and practices.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and communication between different IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors. This includes facilitating discussions, resolving conflicts, and promoting a shared understanding of architectural goals and decisions.
Data Governance Leadership:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and expectations, and to align them with the organizational goals and strategies.
- Communicate the importance of data governance and promote a data-driven culture within the organization. Ensure standardization of data definitions, formats, and metadata across the organization.
- Implement processes and tools for continuous data quality monitoring and improvement.
- Work closely with peers to ensure the data architecture supports the data governance framework. Raise awareness about the importance of data governance and proper data handling procedures.
- Lead and coordinate data governance activities, such as data quality assessment, data cataloging, data lineage, data stewardship, data security, and data ethics.
- Monitor and report on the performance and compliance of data governance policies and metrics, and identify and resolve any issues or gaps
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Business or Information Technology field and 17+ years of related government contracting and/or commercial IT experience. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prior leadership experience within the data domain as a practitioner or thought leader.
- Demonstrated experience in areas related to data strategy and governance within the federal contracting/DIB (Defense Industrial Base) environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including briefings to senior leaders, technical and non-technical audiences, on information technology topics.
- Experience successfully leading projects and implementing data products.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate across senior-level teams to persuade, coordinate, and develop consensus in a collegial and efficient manner. Ability to influence internal peers and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and demonstrated poise and ability to act calmly and effectively in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Demonstrated experience in modeling the Leidos values.
- US citizenship is required and able to obtain security clearance if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with digital engineering and architecture tools, e.g., CAMEO.
- Experience working within an enterprise architecture organization
- An enterprise architecture related certification, e.g., TOGAF
- Masters in a Business or Technology field.
- Information technology experience working with DoD and/or Intelligence Community.
- Experience interacting with Executive Leadership.
- Experience with Internal Audit and ensuring SOX and other regulatory framework compliance.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00
