Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate Senior Staff Machine Learning engineer to support, build and scale the personalization and search platforms for the global streaming app Max as well as ongoing and future streaming initiatives. You are excited about working in a fast-moving environment that fosters engineering and operational excellence with continuous development, deployment, experimentation, quality assurance, and collaboration. You will bring an obsession with our customers along with skills for rapid feature iteration. In your role, you will be working in a team of passionate machine engineers and applied researchers contributing to a system that serves 100+ million users worldwide.

  • Architect, build and scale a recommendation system that powers a state of the art search & personalization, and machine learning experience to users across Max, HBO, Discovery+ and other WBD offerings
  • Influence and guide groups of engineering teams on optimal design patterns and strategies for improvement over time
  • Collaborate with other ML/Ops engineers to develop and improve core components, infrastructure and architecture to train, deploy and serve models at scale
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product teams and other key stakeholders and drive ML projects from conception to completion
  • Use and build upon open-source cloud computing technologies
  • Participate and support engineering leaders in strategic planning and demonstrate good judgment in setting and delivering against strategic goals for the team
  • Mentor, influence engineers across organizations and lead by example with high quality examples of your work at the organization level
  • Motivate, inspire and create a culture of experimentation and data-driven innovation while constantly striving to be an advocate for doing what is right for our customers

What To Bring

  • 9+ years of industry experience
  • 9+ years of experience contributing to machine learning driven, large-scale distributed systems with large scale customer base
  • Good practical knowledge in modern machine learning lifecycle.
  • Very strong architectural and design skills
  • 9+ years of programming experience in Python
  • Ability to technically collaborate with partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, be comfortable to contribute to technical documentation and on-call support
  • Experience with one of the cloud platforms AWS/GCP/Azure
  • Good understanding of machine learning platform
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins etc.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with agile practices and processes

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience on machine learning platform
  • Understanding of distributed systems and networking
  • Working experience with global teams
  • Programming experience in Java/Go
  • Data Modeling experience

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $159,600.00 - $296,400.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
