Job Summary

Monitors the delivery and storage of products and services to ensure that all safety regulations, locally and nationally, are met. Supervises and coordinates the packing and operation areas to pack, receive, transfer, and store supplies, materials, equipment, and other items for use to ensure operating efficiencies and high service levels. Ensures that all supplies are stored, handled, and distributed in accordance with company specifications and procedures sufficient to meet all patient care requirements. Supervises and is accountable for maintaining adequate staffing to meet the expectations of the Supply Chain Management Departments customers.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees team to ensure that all incoming supplies are properly received, entered, and documented to control inventory levels effectively and accurately. May supervise transportation of lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, supplies, linen, equipment, and mail. Ensures all materials are properly handled following Infection Prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines. Coordinates changes to routes and service with offsite customers, both internal Corewell Health entities, and external entities.
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises team in receiving, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment. Ensures that all unit supply carts are inventoried, restocked, and distributed in a manner sufficient to meet all patient care requirements. Strives to proactively prevent stock-outs.
  • Provides direction and support to staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Prepares ongoing performance evaluations of non-management staff, setting goals with staff and initiating performance improvement processes as necessary. Acts as a mentor, coach, role model and resource to the staff.
  • Anticipates customer needs and supervises the provision of services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff. Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems. Builds strong “customer service” team environment focusing on 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures that receiving and distribution services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for team scheduling and timekeeping tasks. Maintains and updates policy / procedure manuals and training manuals as required. Prepares, maintains, and submits reports as required. Maintains files and records.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper and accurate inventory levels for locations to ensure maximum product utilization and cost efficiencies. Identifies and resolve / eliminate obsolete, slow moving, and expired products to maximize inventory turns and reasonable asset levels. Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate degree or equivalent in a related area

Preferred

  • 5 years of relevant supply chain management experience, including distribution, transportation, logistics and procurement or related areas
