Key Outcomes:

  • Support student learning and success in 1:1 tutoring sessions (in person and remote)
    • Offer individualized support to students across various levels of math and statistics, including algebra, calculus, probability, and advanced statistical methods
    • Guide students through course-specific content, assignments, and problem-solving approaches, helping clarify difficult topics and theories
    • Assist students with developing problem-solving techniques and logical reasoning skills
  • Create resources, such as visual aids, step-by-step guides, or tip sheets to enhance students' understanding of key concepts.
  • Assist with community learning spaces (study groups) for math courses as available
  • Develop and facilitate student-facing workshops based on interest and need
  • Engage in supervisory meetings and team meetings as scheduled
  • Complete progress-oriented, non-evaluative visit notes for each tutoring session via TutorTrac
  • Engage in professional reflective practice, complete regular reflective exercises
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience working with college-level students in a tutoring or teaching role, ideally in math or statistics
  • Skilled at identifying students' struggles and addressing them patiently and creatively
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and engaging way, using a variety of modalities and techniques
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Excel) to assist students with analysis assignments
  • Ability to adapt to each individual student’s needs
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent students preferred
