CHLI Global Leader Internship – HP Government Affairs & Global Recruiting, Inclusion & Culture

Description -

The CHLI Global Leader Internship at HP offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of public policy, workforce strategy, and inclusive talent development. This internship is designed for a student seeking exposure to legislative engagement, strategic recruiting initiatives, and alternative pathways programming within a global enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP)

  • Support legislative tracking and policy analysis
  • Attend Congressional hearings and prepare notes
  • Assist with briefing materials and stakeholder engagement
  • Contribute to internal strategy discussions and ad hoc support for the Chief of Staff’s office
  • Participate in meetings with senior leaders

Global Recruiting, Inclusion & Culture (GRIC)

  • Apply public policy insights to workforce and inclusion strategy
  • Support alternative pathways programs (Military Bridge, Apprenticeship, Returnship)
  • Engage with Business Resource Groups (BRGs) and inclusion leaders
  • Contribute to internal communications and reporting

Strategic Project: SkillsFirst in Action

In July 2025, Congress passed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” expanding Pell Grant eligibility to short-term, non-degree workforce programs. HP played a key role in shaping this policy as a founding member of the SkillsFirst Coalition. Shortly after, the White House released America’s Talent Strategy: Building the Workforce for the Golden Age, emphasizing skills-first hiring and inclusive pathways. This project invites the intern to explore how HP can align and build on its alternative pathways strategy in response to these federal actions.

Project Objectives

  • Analyze the policy landscape and its implications
  • Benchmark HP’s current alternative pathways efforts
  • Identify strategic opportunities for alignment
  • Deliver a final memo and presentation for internal stakeholders

Compliance Note

This internship does not involve any lobbying activities as defined by the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 (LDA) and administered by the U.S. Congress Office of the Clerk.
