Job Summary

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Assistant Plant Controller supports the financial performance and integrity of the plant by assisting in the preparation of accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards, and strengthening internal control systems. Working closely with the Plant Controller, this role helps identify and prevent discrepancies, maintains reliable financial reporting, and contributes to continuous improvement of accounting processes. Success requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to achieve key performance metrics and uphold operational excellence.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare annual, monthly, and weekly budgets.
• Develop financial forecasts and support long range planning.
• Lead working capital planning and analysis.
• Conduct cost planning and support quotation processes.
• Track sales, cost of sales, and key financial performance indicators.
• Oversee monthly close activities, including review of results, preparation of financial statements, expense reports, and consolidation processes.
• Review and analyze Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts, interpreting monthly and yearly variances.
• Lead and manage the payroll process.
• Monitor accounts payable and provide operational support as needed.
• Supervise product costing activities and identify cost savings opportunities.
• Review financial statements and manage month end reporting within BPC.
• Advise plant leadership on financial risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
• Support accounting management including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and agency reporting.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with official guidelines and requirements.
• Manage journal entries, invoice processing, and account reconciliations for monthly and annual closing.
• Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management reporting.
• Review accounting data to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Utilize accounting systems and tools to enhance financial processes and maintain accurate records.
• Manage standard cost processes and ensure system accuracy.
• Perform variance analysis including purchase price variances, manufacturing variances, and overhead variances.
• Oversee physical inventory, cycle counts, and reconciliation of adjustments with reason codes.
• Monitor inventory aging, days on hand, and overall inventory health.
• Manage COGS analysis and margin and contribution reporting.
• Review Bill of Materials accuracy and cost rates to support operational decision making.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
• Well organized with ability to prioritize

Job Description

Assistant Controller to assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a controller. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems. The goal is to contribute to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control. You will report to a financial controller.

Responsibilities & Duties
Support most aspects of accounting management (Billing, A/P, A/R, agency reporting, etc.)
Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
Manage journal entries, invoices, etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
Assist in preparation of budgets or forecasts
Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
