The Red Hat Software Engineering team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this position, you will help our engineering teams contribute to open-source projects focused on infrastructure management and virtualization. You will leverage this expertise to develop enterprise-ready solutions such as virtual machine migration tools for ISVs and OEMs. Your work will involve utilizing a variety of languages and technologies to support our key customers and partners.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new features, collaborating closely with customers and partners to ensure success.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new features, contributing to upstream projects using Golang or Python.

  • Integrate changes across multiple projects and services to create a cohesive, consumable feature.

  • Submit bug fixes and review patches submitted by other community members.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure thorough testing of projects.

  • Share team achievements and progress through blogs, web postings, and presentations at conferences.

What You Will Bring:

  • Extensive programming experience in Golang, Python, or Java.

  • Experience with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift for container orchestration.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.

  • Proven expertise with the Linux operating system.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work effectively as both an individual contributor and a team member.

  • Experience with version control systems like Git or GitHub.

  • Understanding of continuous integration (CI) practices and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Agile environment, including participation in scrums and backlog grooming.

  • A history of contributing to open-source projects or active participation in the open-source community.

  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for task automation and deployments.

  • Understanding of CoreOS architecture and functionality.

This role is ideal for an individual with a strong technical background, a passion for open-source development, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to contribute to impactful engineering projects.
