Job Description

Construction of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will commence over the coming months and the project is expected to be completed in 2029. To help us construct the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant we will need some of Perth’s top professionals to join our team.

One of the key roles we are seeking to recruit is a Project Operations Safety Manager.

Reporting to the Safety Lead, you will be responsible for implementing and controlling safety management requirements, strategies and initiatives across the program as well as managing the operational safety managers and report on progress to the Health & Safety Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support the leadership teams to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles
  • Ensure the projects maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus, and discipline related to safety
  • Initiate and administer safety improvement, education, and compliance programs for workplace
  • Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences. All incidents are reported and investigated; the type and level of investigation will depend on the seriousness of the incident
  • Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients, and visitors
  • Manage and support safety managers to ensure values, behaviours and day to day performance is monitored. 
  • Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements, and monitor safety performance progress

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Diploma Safety in Occupation Health Safety or Equivalent.
  • 7 – 10 years operational experience in the application of safety management principles. 
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification.
  • TAE Training and Assessment.
  • Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project.
  • Construction Induction Training (CIT/’White Card’, formerly a ‘Red Card’), obtained via face-to-face training, not online.
