Advanced Materials & Test Centre (AMTC) 

  • AMTC mission is to continuously develop capabilities and build knowledge in Print and microfluidics technology to support product analysis and testing requirement. AMTC strive to operate in the cost-effective service model with operational excellence on failure analysis laboratory, print characterization, prototyping and reliability testing using smart technologies. 

  • The Penang team is seeking for a micro-analysis lab manager to lead the lab team for analysis, characterization of products, manufacturing process and materials to support the manufacturing needs for the organization. 

Job description:  

The Malaysia Micro-analysis Lab (MML) manager will be leading, coaching, and guiding the engineering and operation team to support, develop and advance their analysis and test needs to support the inkjet printhead and cartridges manufacturing. He/she will be closely partnering with the product engineering and manufacturing team in the failure analysis, characterization, and testing requirements. 

In MML, he/she will lead in the analysis, drive root cause analysis and insights on products, processes, and materials as part of the investigation work on failed products, characterization of products with the manufacturing parameters, material characterization study on suitability in the manufacturing environment. He/she will grow the team in Imaging, material characterization and electrical failure analysis.  

 

What does the Micro-analysis Lab manager do: 

  • Lead the team on applying failure analysis techniques and use of relevant tools to determine failure mechanism. 

  • Lead the team to collaborate with partners in the investigation of products & processes to drive root-cause. 

  • Lead the team to effectively communicate analysis findings and insights across functions and levels in the organization. 

  • Lead and collaborate with partners to qualify new materials, process changes, characterization, and reliability testing. 

  • Lead the team to develop new analysis and testing capabilities to improve lab competency. 

  • Lead the team to drive development of Imaging techniques, material characterization and electrical failure analysis in collaboration with WW team & lab partners. 

  • Lead the team in application of Industry 5.0 elements, AI to drive productivity and efficiency. 

  • People engagement to develop and build a high performing team. 

 

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess: 

  • Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or relevant. 

  • Strong people managing and development skills with the ability to lead, motivate, coach and groom technical leaders. 

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills. 

  • Strong communication skills - able to present findings to internal stakeholders. 

  • Lead the team and able to collaborate across geographies, levels, and functions. 

  • Good understanding of TIJ technologies and common failure modes, able to perform autopsy and sample preparations. 

  • Good understanding on the applications of Imaging and characterization tools such as Microscopy, SWLI, 2D Xray, 3D Xray, SEM-EDX, FTIR, FLIR, DSC, TGA and electrical equipment are preferred. 

  • Good understanding of Industrial 4.0. 

  • Knowledge of ISO9K, ISO 14K/18K/ 45K/ 50K, Lean Sigma and chemical management will be advantageous.
