GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general direction of Ground Transportation Shift Supervisor, provides front-line supervision and coaching of Guest Assistants; performs routine daily operations matters as assigned by management; monitors the activity of commercial ground transportation operators on the airport and administers related rules and regulations; monitors and enforces public vehicle parking and stopping activities to ensure compliance with airport resolutions, rules or orders; provides customers with information and assists in resolving problems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides first-line decisions on exceptions to standard operating procedures within delegated limits.
- Assigns Guest Assistant personnel and equipment in the terminals.
- Assists Shift Supervisor in providing directions to Guest Assistants; monitors the performance of shift subordinates; provides recommendations to supervisory staff on performance evaluations.
- Provides break and lunch relief for Guest Assistants.
- Receive briefings from preceding Ground Transportation Agent and briefs succeeding Ground Transportation Agent regarding unusual problems or situations.
- Performs inspection of the terminals, both landside and airside; ensures compliance with safety, security, environmental and cleanliness standards; ensures public areas meet terminal standards for “show readiness”; reports significant deficiencies to Airport Operations Center AOC).
- Performs daily inspection of Ground Transportation customer service phones.
- Monitors the activity of ground transportation operators to ensure compliance with Code of Rules and Regulations and writes reports of non-compliance; assists with Ground Transportation operator counseling.
- Patrols and monitors parking areas for violations and initiate appropriate action to ensure compliance with airport parking resolutions, rules or orders; uses verbal warnings, written warnings and/or issues parking citations; requests Department of Public Safety assistance when necessary to enforce rules.
- Assists Airport customers by providing accurate information regarding ground transportation and airport facilities; resolves problems between commercial operators and customers.
- Provides information to public parkers regarding parking resolutions rules or orders in order to increase voluntary compliance.
- Testifies at ground transportation appeal hearings and parking adjudication hearings and in Municipal Court to provide case-related information.
- Locates and retrieves lost items/passengers.
- Completes required logs and reports.
- Assists Operations/Ground Transportation Regulations with mass inspections of Ground Transportation vehicles.
- Observes passenger loading area to monitor commercial operators loading passengers and baggage into vehicles.
- Inspects dispatch tickets and driver manifests to verify operators are reporting to assigned locations; assists the Ground Transportation Dispatcher in reassigning commercial operators to different loading areas.
- Assists in the evacuation of the terminal area when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a position requiring extensive public contact.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

- Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departments and to deal with difficult public relations problems.
- Ability to work flexible hours and rotating shift assignments.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare and maintain routine records and reports on a computer.
- Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. for approximately 500 feet; ability to occasionally lift and/or push up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stand and stoop for long periods of time.
- Ability to communicate clearly over a two-way radio.
- Ability to ride a Segway after receiving training by Airport staff.
DESIRABLE
- Ability to speak a foreign language.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
- Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
- This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

- Works in and around Airport terminals, subject to traffic hazards, confrontational situations, exposed to all weather conditions.
- Stands and sits for prolonged periods of time.
- Exchanges information in person and by two-way radio, and in writing.
- Uses computer monitors and keyboard devices.
- Drives to locations on Airport property.
