Join a team of critical care physicians and APPs to promote and advance the health of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. This dual role will include time in the ICU and transporting critically ill children.

The ICU is a 24-bed unit that requires a variety of shift coverage, medical knowledge, procedural skills, and collaboration with multiple sub specialties. Be responsible for performing assessments, diagnosis, and initiation of care plans. Provide education support to patients/families and medical learners. Opportunities for involvement in QI/Research to measure outcomes of care. In addition to ICU responsibilities, this APP will assist with the HDVCH blood management program. This program is aimed at decreasing the need for blood transfusions through iron replacement and Epoetin administration.

Our Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team is comprised of dedicated Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, and Respiratory Therapists. Together we will play a crucial role in providing specialized pre-hospital (interfacility) care to ensure the safe ground transfer of pediatric patients across Michigan to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Ensures operations follow professional standards, applicable laws, accreditation, compliance/regulatory requirements, and follows organizational goals. Practices in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code.

Both roles will maintain a collaborative practice agreement with the critical care physician team.

Qualifications: 

Nurse Practitioner: 

  • Required Master's Degree Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission 

  • 3 years of relevant experience current, relevant clinical experience 

  • Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role as a Nurse Practitioner 

  • LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan  

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS)  

  • CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

 Physician Assistant: 

  • Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program 

  • LIC-Physician Assistant - State of Michigan 

  • CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants  

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS)  

  • CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
