As a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer, you will provide field engineering support to Disneyland Resort(DLR) registered attractions and shows. In this role you will be assigned specific Sustaining tasks which may include added capacity, troubleshooting, improved maintainability, performance optimization and overall attraction improvement. Tasks will be focused on mechanical solutions with emphasis on materials selection, strength and fatigue design & calculations, pneumatic and hydraulic optimization as well as internal and industry standards alignment. Most efforts will require close partnering with Cast from DLR’s Design Assurance, Ride Control, Ride & Show and Project Management groups. You will work with general supervision provided by an assigned Mentor. Communication and language skills are essential to ensure Engineering Services (Maintenance) and Operations challenges are well understood so that supplied solutions solve the specific issues and requirements which have been identified by the end users and maintainers. Off hours support and weekend support may be needed with advance notice given.
You will report to the Manager of Sustaining Engineering.
Respond to attraction downtimes in the field supporting Engineering Services and Operations Teams.
Prepare engineering documentation to capture ride configuration and engineering disposition instructions
Accountable for the successful completion of Sustaining Tasks that have been assigned, communicating progress along the way to key stakeholders
Perform ride element performance analysis: finite element analysis, structural, dynamic, kinematic, hydraulic and pneumatic analysis and calculations, as appropriate for any Attraction changes in support of California ride law requirements.
Assist in resolving technical conflicts encountered in design/drawing packages with vendors and shops to ensure conformance with design documentation.
Provide engineering recommendations, with proposed action and suggested priorities, for the resolution of attraction operational and mechanical problems.
Perform field testing.
Support field installation/inspection.
Develop scope for attraction reliability improvement efforts – design, install, testing, documentation, and closeout.
1+ years of proven engineering experience.
Solidworks/AutoCAD experience.
Able to communicate technical concepts in writing.
Ability to communicate complex issues to non-technical peers and management.
Ability to read engineering prints/assembly drawings.
working in a multi-discipline, technical team environment including mechanical and controls engineers.
Experience managing and balancing multiple projects/assignments and priorities.
Excellent written and verbal skills applying a variety of technologies including email, text, web applications (slack, sharepoint, teams).
Troubleshooting or Design experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate.
Proficiency in performing and reviewing hazard and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
Performing Hazard Analysis documents.
Bachelor of Science from an ABET accredited engineering program in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required.
Post Graduate Work in engineering or technical discipline is preferred.

The hiring range for this position in California is $94,200.00 to $126,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
