Your role and responsibilities

In this role, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Analytical Solutions & Commissioning to support the deployment and evolution of the ABB Genix Datalyzer platform for PAMA division’s analytical products. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in analytical instruments and be prepared to lead product ownership tasks in a software-driven environment. The role requires liaison between business and R&D, translating field requirements into digital solutions, and supporting deployment and commissioning across global installations.

This role is contributing to the ABB PA Digital Division in AIC (ABB Innovation Center) Southfield, Bangalore.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Apply practical field commissioning knowledge of ABB’s Continuous Gas Analyzers, Gas Chromatographs, and related analytical systems; serve as the OT lead to ensure products meet field expectations, safety procedures, operational workflows, environmental compliance, and integration with third-party systems via protocols like Modbus, OPC, and Profibus.
  • Serve as Product Owner for digital applications supporting PAMA analytical products (including Genix Datalyzer and digital commissioning tools), managing Azure DevOps boards (Epics, Features, User Stories) in line with Agile practices and translating field use cases into structured product requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Responsibility Unit (PRU) and development teams to prioritize features, guide implementation, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure delivery of fit-for-purpose digital solutions.
  • Support rollout and commissioning efforts through analyzer onboarding assistance, articulating OT needs in digital systems, and addressing problems that arise during integration and data gathering.
  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison among PRU, software development, product management, engineering, and field service teams to ensure alignment with market needs and preserve effective field feedback channels that support ongoing product quality enhancements.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in analytical product commissioning, field engineering, or software product ownership roles within industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with ABB analytical instruments is considered beneficial.
  • Prior exposure to Agile software development methodologies and working knowledge of Azure DevOps.
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial communication protocols like Modbus, OPC, and related standards.
  • Awareness of environmental compliance requirements and emissions data management practices.
  • Effective communicator with solid documentation and stakeholder management capabilities, plus a commitment to learning and closing the OT–IT gap.
