Job Summary:
The Cloud Architect drives development of the overall application, data, and infrastructure blueprints and standards in relation to cloud technologies. The Cloud Architect must have a broad view of the entire organization and will work in a team environment developing enterprise IT technology strategy and providing a cloud technology vision aligned to business priorities through thought leadership, processes, structure, and value delivery in the cloud technology space.
The ideal candidate will architect a gamut of solutions from large-scale, robust, highly transactional, mission critical, production end to end solutions adhering to environmental isolation and code lifecycle management best practices down to practical and cost-effective solutions to day-to-day problems. They will assist senior management in the development, maintenance, and communication of an information infrastructure for organization-wide cloud operations that will create substantial added value for the enterprise. They will design appropriate cloud solutions required to support required work processes and information flows that also integrate corporate, central, distributed, and client server systems to maximize utility and minimize cost. Evaluates new or enhanced cloud technologies that could improve current systems and support overall corporate goals.
The successful candidate will understand the needs of the business both tactically and strategically and is able to define an architectural cloud roadmap for overall development while aligning with business requirements and fostering strategic innovation.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Solutions
* The Cloud Architect will work (in conjunction with other architects and engineers) with all levels of management and other stakeholders in developing solutions to meet business requirements using advanced cloud technology solutions.
* Develops accurate representations of the business environment, strategy and critical success factors framed in regards to cloud opportunities.
* Defines the target cloud architecture at a given point in the future that is necessary to support the business mission and strategy of the organization.
* Prepares formal proposals, capital and operating budgets for the recommended cloud architecture.
* Assist Cloud Engineers and other stakeholders in building cloud services and solutions that follow best practices and security guidelines.
Strategy
* Assists in developing the cloud technology strategy and vision to support key business processes and needs by determining the optimal IT architecture, level of investment in tools and technologies.
* Develops cloud infrastructure architectural standards.
* Define enterprise-wide documentation standard for cloud architectures deployed.
* Develops / maintains the documentation for the cloud technology standards that define what cloud technologies and products are approved to be used within the organization. Complimented by prescriptive enterprise-wide guidelines on how to best apply these cloud technology standards in supporting business applications.
* Leads defining and maintaining policies and principles relevant to the approved cloud architectures.
Development
* Demonstrates the ability to learn and improve skills personally as well as leading team development in regards to cloud technologies.
* Keeps in sync of emerging cloud technologies to evolve enterprise IT implementations with more efficient and effective standards.
* Enhance professional growth and development through training, events or other educational opportunities that may be presented for themselves and others.
* Presenting new ideas and options to IT Senior Management.
* A subject matter expert for cloud technology to all IT Technical and Applications staff.
Roadmap
* Designs and prepares cloud solutions for implementation that align with the overall enterprise technology strategy including, but not limited to, integration of cloud architecture designs to legacy systems of various origin and vintage.
* Works closely with vendors to obtain detailed proposals and quotations.
* Prepare technical and executive presentations to present to Senior Leadership.
* Prepare technical assessment, request for information (RFI), and request for proposal (RFP) system architectural artifacts as pertaining to cloud technologies.
* Works with Engineers, project manager and other stakeholders to prepare detailed implementation plans.
* Prepare technical assessments of cloud resources to stakeholders for review and planning.
* Administrative
* Attend meetings and effectively communicate with senior management, peers, and other stakeholders.
* Create weekly documentation in time tracking system.
* Maintain regular and productive contact with strategic cloud partners.
* Proactively own and review processes to ensure best practices are being followed.
* Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 6 years of equivalent work experience in-lieu of education will be considered. Required and
Candidates must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure services, deployment and management of multiple virtual environments, networking, database, storage, virtualization, DR, HA, operations, and monitoring Required and
They must also have at least 3+ years experience in public cloud technology operations (2 years of that must be in Microsoft Azure) Required and
Microsoft AZ-303 Azure certification preferred. Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of cloud administration (Architecture, design, services & offerings) of current public cloud service offerings including but not limited to Azure, AWS, and GCP.
Experience creating architectural documentation and diagrams.
Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow standard methodologies for troubleshooting and development.
