If you obsess over clean layouts, consistent design systems, and making complex information look effortless, this one's for you. The Infrastructure & Renewable Resources department is looking for a Visual Communications Design Co-op/Intern to play a key role in a meaningful, department-wide project which involves helping build a polished, cohesive presentation template system for the group.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

BCI manages a globally diversified portfolio of assets valued at $295 billion and is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. We invest globally to support pension and other funds for more than 30 clients based in British Columbia. We are proud to have been chosen as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and BC’s Top Employers. These national and provincial competitions recognize employers who offer exceptional workplaces for their employees.

The Visual Communications Design Co-op/Intern will design and develop a full library of slide templates across multiple presentation formats, crafting them in your design tool of choice before bringing them to life in PowerPoint. From there, you'll help organize everything into a centralized resource hub and contribute to clear documentation so the whole team can use the work confidently and consistently.

A real project with real impact. Your contributions will shape how a $32 billion investment department communicates internally and with partners around the world.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) department manages a globally diversified $32.2 billion portfolio of infrastructure and renewable resource investments across sectors including transportation, utilities, energy, and digital infrastructure. With teams in Victoria, Vancouver, London, and India, I&RR invests on behalf of BCI's clients to deliver stable, long-term returns while supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Strong working knowledge of at least one industry-standard design tool (e.g., Figma, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or similar)

  • Solid grasp of visual design principles — typography, colour, hierarchy, and spacing

  • A keen eye for consistency and detail across a design system

  • Currently enrolled in a Visual Communications, Graphic Design, or related design program

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience contributing to a design system or component library

  • Familiarity with SharePoint or similar platforms

  • Comfort writing clear, concise documentation
