Job Overview
Project Leads are an integral part of clinical trial delivery, liaising with clinical teams to improve patients’ lives by bringing new drugs to the market faster. The Project Lead is an essential member of the core project team responsible for project delivery of clinical studies to meet contractual requirements in accordance with SOPs, policies and practices. Clinical Project Management is focused on project delivery, productivity and quality resulting in strong financial performance and customer satisfaction. Clinical Project leads can run their own studies. The Project Lead focus is on leveraging therapeutic expertise and IQVIA’s suite of solutions to drive operational excellence and strategic leadership with our customers.
Essential Functions:
Bid Defense Presentations: Participate in bid defense presentations with Business Development and may lead presentations for smaller, less complex regional studies.
Study Management: Responsible for the delivery and management of smaller, less complex regional studies.
Study Plans: Develop integrated study management plans with the core project team.
Execution: Ensure the execution of clinical studies per contract, optimizing speed, quality, and cost, and ensuring consistent use of study tools and training materials.
Team Objectives: Set objectives for the core project team and/or sub-teams, communicate effectively, and assess performance.
Collaboration: Work with other functional groups to support milestone achievement and manage study issues.
Progress Monitoring: Monitor progress against the contract and present project information to stakeholders.
Risk Management: Manage risks and contingencies proactively, leading problem-solving and resolution efforts.
Quality Assurance: Ensure project quality by identifying risks and issues, responding to team concerns, and implementing corrective actions.
Customer Contact: Serve as the primary or backup project contact with customers, managing relationships and collaborating with business development representatives.
Team Leadership: Build and lead the cross-functional project team, ensuring overall project delivery and managing study issues.
Financial Management: Ensure the financial success of the project, forecast opportunities to accelerate activities, and manage scope changes.
Best Practices: Identify lessons learned and implement best practices.
Vendor Management: Manage project vendors as needed, leading vendor management activities.
Change Advocacy: Adopt corporate initiatives and serve as a change advocate.
Performance Feedback: Provide input on project team members' performance.
Staff Development: Support staff development and mentor less experienced team members.
Travel: Be prepared for work-related travel as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field.
Experience: Over 5 years of relevant experience, including more than 1 year in project management.
Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of related areas, including clinical trials and regulatory requirements.
Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage resources effectively. Attention to detail and results-oriented approach.
IT Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Collaboration: Ability to work across geographies and understand cultural differences.
Financial Understanding: Good understanding of project financials.
Travel: Willingness to travel for work.
