ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Mgr. Information Systems position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint.

The role is responsible for defining the vision & strategy, primarily responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the AI and Automation Solutions engineering team by ensuring that the team backlog is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs. The role represents leading the solution engineering and DevOps teams to lead the transition from Intelligent automation to Agentic Process Automation and ensures that strategy and implementation remain connected throughout the value stream. The ideal candidate has strong experience in product management, Intelligent automation solutions engineering, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of Agile methodologies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Play a key role in building and leading a global team of Automation and DevOps engineers contributing to a growing internal AI & Automation Platforms and Solutions management practice.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning in emerging AI and automation technologies.
• Oversee the development and lifecycle management of AI & automation solutions using (e.g., UiPath, Celonis, DocuSign, orchestration frameworks and workflow engines).
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Ensure regulatory and audit readiness in design, deployment, and monitoring of solutions
• Drive DevOps solution engineering practices for platform and solutions availability, performance monitoring, incident management, and cost optimization of AI and automation services
• Oversee the day-to-day management of automation solutions, ensuring that they meet performance, security, and availability requirements
• Manage relationships with business partners, ensuring that service levels are met and that the organization derives the best value from its investments
• Analyze customer feedback and support data to identify pain points and opportunities for service improvement
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the enterprise/domain/automation/solution architecture
• Provide leadership and engineering expertise along with delivery for end-to-end automations that span multiple systems and need enterprise architecture mindset.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools that best fit the solution requirements
• Establish and enforce data standards, governance policies, and best practices

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

[GCF Level 5A]

• Any degree with 8 - 13 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

• Expertise in Intelligent Automation with experience in automations tools like UiPath & Power Automate, GenAI Tools/LLMs and Agentic AI.
• Experience leading engineering teams and working in agile methodology, including Product Teams and Product Development models
• Design Patterns: Extensive knowledge of common automation and AI design patterns and their application in software development.
• Technology Stack: Experience in a variety of programming languages like Python, automation and AI platforms like UiPath, Power Platform, SAP BTP, development frameworks, and Cloud Platforms like AWS.
• Experience directing solution design, business processes redesign and aligning business requirements to technical solutions in a regulated environment

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Knowledge of GenAI tooling: vector databases, RAG pipelines, prompt-engineering DSLs and agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel).
• Experience managing change and driving adoption of new digital technologies across large or regulated enterprises.
• Strong solution design and problem-solving skills
• Experience in developing differentiated and deliverable solutions
• Ability to analyze client requirements and translate them into solutions

Soft Skills:

• Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated awareness of how to function in a team setting
• Demonstrated awareness of presentation skills
