The Accounting Clerk position is an entry level position in the accounting department. The primary role will be processing daily receivable entries, cash entries and providing overall support to the finance and accounting operations of the company. Individuals in this role will have the opportunity to work with multiple departments and gain experience in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities include:
Collect on past due invoices by reaching out to customers via phone or email to guarantee payment
Research discrepant amounts on customer accounts to reconcile and clear invoices, short pays and overpays by creating spreadsheets, reviewing pricing, and working with departments within the company to resolve.
Refund customers over payments, return product and price corrections by pulling checks, invoices, correction backups and pricing backups to justify the refund.
Answer incoming customer inquiries via phone or email to resolve concerns.
Collect on return checks by calling or emailing customers to retrieve payment by cashier’s check, certified funds, or by credit card.
Assist customers on the Payment Portal
Complete accounts payable process
Other tasks as assigned by the Corporate Accountant
Requirements:
Accounting degree or currently pursuing an accounting degree preferred or one year of work experience in accounting (will consider any combination of education, professional training, or work experience that demonstrates ability to perform the job).
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Skill in clearly communicating complex concepts verbally including ability to answer customer service questions by phone and in writing.
Experience in general accounting and accounts receivable including journal entries, cash balancing, and reconciliation.
Detail-oriented with ability to be accurate and complete tasks correctly.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet time standards.
Ability to research inconsistencies and errors then identify and resolve.
Ability to monitor and adapt to an unfamiliar situation and to employ professional demeanor, courtesy, and persuasive skills in phone conversations.
