JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Claim Specialist is responsible for the analyzing and resolution of complex mortgage insurance claims filed by ARCH’s customers in accordance with ARCH’s policies and procedures and the policy and procedures under the Servicing Agreement with PMI.  He/she initiates and implements newly established and/or more complex non-standard procedures/processes while providing operational backup support on the Claims Director’s behalf.  The incumbent operates under defined practices, with some latitude to determine methods and works independently on most assignments. He/she acts in a team lead capacity providing direction and training to less experienced peers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Reviews, analyzes, and approves settlement of mortgage insurance claims covering all financial aspects of property disposition.
2. Provides direction, support, and training to Claims Specialists on ARCH’s mortgage insurance policies and resolution of complex mortgage insurance issues.
3. Reviews all settlements done by the Claims Specialists for accuracy and to mitigate MI loss in accordance to quality control process.
4. Identifies training and calibration opportunities to ensure Claims Department is adhering to claim settlement guidelines.
5. Collaborates with management and peers with update and revisions of the Claims Settlement Reference Guide.
6. Leads group discussions with Claims Department regarding changes and updates on claims settlement guidelines.
7. Provides support and backup to Claims Specialists for management of the assigned top tiered and secondary tiered ARCH Accounts.
8. Reviews / insures appropriate claim payments on reported potential fraudulent loan occurrences sent to the ARCH Fraud Investigations department.
9. Utilizes extensive mortgage lending knowledge, background, and provides assistance to Claims Specialist in the calculation of interest paid, restoration fees, Notice of Defaults, appraisals, property taxes, etc.
10. Identifies and implements necessary process changes to allow for increased productivity. Makes specific recommendations and decisions regarding policies and procedures.
11. Works closely with departments at ARCH to ensure claim settlements adhere to ARCH’s Master Policy and their Policies and Procedures, as well as meeting the standards set by their quality audits.
12. Manages special projects and assignments for analysis and solutions to mitigate mortgage insurance claims

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Skills:

1. Extensive understanding of mortgage lending practices, real estate principles and foreclosure processes.

2. Intermediate software skills in MS office programs.

3. Coordinates and provides leadership to the Claims Specialists and Claims Representatives.

4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with customers. 

5. Effective problem-solving ability.

6. Strong mathematical ability to calculate claims and present to management.

7. Efficient time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team oriented environment.

Education & Experience:

Knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a High School diploma/GED and  a minimum of 5 years related experience.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$46,000 - $68,000

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
