Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff (level 6) Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel Systems Engineering team located in Roy, UT. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
As a Level 6 Systems Engineer, you will provide leadership and technical oversight to a team of SMT Tech Leads, each supporting a Tier I or Tier II supplier. Additionally, you will act as the primary focal point for program design changes, processes, and templates impacting suppliers – providing coordination, technical guidance, and high-level impact assessments, and collaborating across Program Operating Units / IPTs, Office of the Chief Engineer, Engineering, Mission Assurance, Global Supply Chain, and other functional organizations.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 10 years of related engineering experience.
5 years of experience leading technical teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal as a results driven leader who views mentorship as a priority.
Experience with the systems engineering “V” and different phases of the acquisition lifecycle including requirements development to acceptance testing.
Experience in managing a technical baseline.
Experience with systems engineering milestones.
Experience working with suppliers on a Development program.
Experience working with technology related to what one or more major Tier I suppliers support. For example, aerospace electronic/mechanical systems.
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoW Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government DoW Top Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience defining, documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing, and confirming requirements throughout the entire program life cycle.
Experience applying a technical performance baseline to monitor and compare key program technical performance measures, assess program and product status, and take appropriate action to maintain conformance with the baseline.
Experience effectively defining, establishing, communicating, monitoring, and controlling scope to ensure that all of the work required, and only the work required, is performed.
Experience performing evaluations of supplier proposals & subsequent contract negotiations.
Experience addressing program uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward-looking approach that identifies risks and opportunities, determines appropriate handling plans, and manages, controls, and communicates effectively throughout the lifecycle of the program.
Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) or being a control account manager (CAM).
Experience planning and executing a project quality management system to satisfy quality requirements and create a project value system which emphasizes prevention over inspection, and continuous process improvement.
Experience with identifying, orchestrating, coordinating and controlling management activities and processes that integrate program interdependencies throughout their life cycle to achieve successful program completion.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
