The Manager, Business Development Operations is a vital member of the Biologics by McKesson Business Development and Customer Engagement team, spearheading new business sales support for Specialty Pharmacy Services Requests for Proposal and Therapeutic Pipeline Management. This dynamic role has a dual focus: crafting compelling, customer-centric proposal content in required formats for the Biologics by McKesson business unit, and building, maintaining, and tracking the therapeutic pipeline. The goal is to ensure BD leads proactively cultivate relationships with high-value biopharma clients, driving growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Proposal Development and Content Management:
Create, edit, post, and maintain proposal content for Biologics service offerings across oncology, rare disease, and cell and gene therapeutic areas.
Develop proposals and templates to support new business opportunities, translating sales strategies into detailed proposal content and providing strategic positioning input.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of assigned proposals, facilitating and managing processes to solicit input from internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, legal, compliance, privacy, clinical, and other internal teams to gather necessary information and insights for proposals.
Collaborative Engagement and Resource Management
Work with subject matter experts, business development (BD) and sales teams, marketing professionals, and senior leaders to develop broad business unit capability responses to commonly asked questions.
Conduct research and collect responses to specific RFP questions, storing them in a database of common responses for reuse in proposals, presentations, web-based communication, and other customer-facing written materials.
Content Production and Process Management
Manage the content creation process, including writing, delivery, researching, editing, proofreading, designing, and submission.
Ensure adherence to production timelines for all proposal-related content.
Pipeline Management and Market Analysis
Support the identification of new business opportunities through pipeline and market research, trend analysis, and RFPs.
Work with BD leadership to establish policies, standards, tracking methodologies, and reporting mechanisms to support new business metrics and analysis, empowering proactive customer targeting.
Maintain data in a centralized pipeline management repository to ensure frequent reporting to management on activities and trends in the therapeutic landscape affecting targeting efforts.
Lead the creation, updates, and continuous monitoring of market events in oncology, rare disease, and cell and gene therapy sectors.
Client Engagement and Relationship Building
Support and participate in the process of contacting potential new biopharma partners to share Biologics’ capabilities and establish relationships.
Lend subject matter expertise to special projects related to the marketing of Biologics services.
Team Management
Manage a small team of support associates designated to proposal and pipeline initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and efficient execution of tasks.
Minimum Requirements
Typically requires 6+ years of professional experience and 0-2 years of supervisory experience.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Professional & Technical Writing or related fields preferred. Advanced degree in Healthcare related fields a bonus.
Critical Skills
6+ years experience with proven ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling proposals in specialty pharmacy, content management, product marketing, technical writing, or other related roles tailored to client needs.
3 years experience leading the completion of complex RFPs, demonstrating strong technical writing skills within the healthcare industry.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and manage stakeholders, leveraging strong interpersonal skills and confidence
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Healthcare industry experience, preferably within the specialty pharmacy or patient support markets associated with complex care landscapes such as oncology and rare disease
Thrive in a dynamic marketing environment by adeptly handling shifting priorities and meeting tight deadlines, consistently striving for excellence.
Possess a deep understanding of therapeutic areas and biopharma industry trends.
Demonstrate sound business judgment with the ability to work independently while remaining accountable.
Skilled in delegating tasks effectively while maintaining appropriate team oversight.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Confident in participating in customer-facing meetings.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid work environment requiring some occasional in-office time
Up to 10% travel
Large percent of time performing computer-based work is required.
