We have an exciting leadership opportunity for a seasoned insurance professional and inspiring people leader to join our Transport team within Affinity at Marsh. This pivotal role is ideal for an experienced broker who will oversee retention and growth, manage daily operations, mentor a professional team, and maintain key heavy motor client and insurer relationships.

As Head of Transport, you will lead a team of five direct reports and a broader group of brokers, championing service excellence across a diverse, high-value portfolio. You will also be responsible for budget management, retention and growth strategies, workflow oversight, team development, and quality assurance, while nurturing strategic relationships with key clients.

This role is based in Melbourne or Adelaide and offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with three days in the office and two days working from home.


We will count on you to:

  • Provide strong day-to-day leadership and mentorship to a motivated team of brokers.
  • Oversee workflow, development plans, and deliver technical oversight.
  • Serve as a Senior Relationship Manager, building and maintaining trusted partnerships with key clients and insurers.
  • Drive operational excellence and ensure consistent, high-quality client service delivery that supports retention.
  • Outline and implement growth plan, working closely with and leveraging internal sales and marketing teams.
  • Strengthen the transport broking capability as industry leading.
  • Maintain and deepen your technical expertise across heavy motor, property, liability, marine, and management liability insurance classes.
  • Cultivate productive internal relationships with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Analytics, Finance, Sales and Marketing.


What you need to have: 

  • Tier 1 Insurance Broking Compliance Accreditation (ANZIIF or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in senior broking or leadership roles within transport or commercial insurance.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of relevant insurance classes.
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams, with strong skills in mentoring and talent development.
  • Ability to balance operational leadership with strategic client management.
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset.
