Job Title: Senior Specialist, Software Engineering

A Sr. Software Engineer will redefine the “art of the possible” and unleash the potential of the modern technical stack by developing and testing software solutions and integrating them with our company’s R&D enterprise applications. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Programs in the Enablement and User Advocacy (EUA) Value team within our Company Research Laboratories IT, this position will be responsible for designing and developing new solutions, conducting hyper-accelerated prototyping of the latest technologies, including AI/GenAI-driven solutions, and developing an implementation roadmap to deliver the successful prototypes to the product teams within Research Laboratories IT.

The successful candidate will also perform product discovery and define the end-to-end conceptual and technical design. We expect you to show technical leadership, deep technical expertise, and accountability, and use your skills to mentor and develop the people you lead.

Primary Tasks

• Develop a good understanding of our company’s biopharmaceutical R&D business processes, systems, and data
• Collaborate with cross-functional value teams, including business technology partners, product managers, data scientists, and software engineers, to understand data requirements
• Be a role model by creating a culture of curiosity, learning, building, and experimentation
• Perform ongoing market research and technology assessments around emerging industry trends and helps align these to the enterprise roadmap.
• Establish and provide leadership to the technology strategy and roadmaps for the most strategic and complex tech domains and platforms
• Construct, amend, and verify software systems, components, and integrations by writing software programs subject to estimation, measurement, quality processes, appropriate documentation, and continuous improvement processes
• Enables and maintains software configuration management capability across heterogeneous technology environments, architectures, and platforms
• Create and adapt software configuration applications and interfaces
• Develops and employ software capabilities empowering creation, renewal, update, and destruction of data subject to given objectives regarding security, compliance, policy, scalability, efficiency, reliability, fidelity, flexibility, and portability
• Ensure that industry-accepted architecture principles, standards, guidelines and concepts are integrated with those of allied domains and coordinated roll-out and adoption strategies are in place
• Facilitate communication between technical teams and more broadly with the business when leveraging relevant domains
• Stay current with technology trends and introduces modern best practices to Research Laboratories IT 
• Develops a library of deployable and documented design patterns and reference architectures

Education Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or any Technology Stream, or equivalent relevant experience

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or AI Engineering
• Proven experience in developing web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and one or more backend programming languages.
• Full stack (programming/software development, database administration, animation development, information security, solution architecture, cloud platforms, Software Configuration, Systems Design, & Management)
• Strong understanding of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Expertise in version control systems like Git
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and agile development methodologies
• Hyper automation (real-time / embedded systems development, systems and software lifecycle engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, business process improvement)
• Experienced with relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with building scalable AI Solutions within a modern technology stack, which includes cloud services, data pipelines, database, and other necessary tooling
• Familiarity with CI/CD and test-driven development
• Experience in building RESTful APIs for AI models
• Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques
• Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques, such as instruction design, template-based approaches, rule-based conditioning, or fine-tuning strategies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Must be analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience working in an Agile Methodology in GxP, highly regulated environments
• Additional programming languages such as Node.js / TypeScript, C#, or Java
• Demonstrated experience in developing and refining prompts for generative AI models, preferably in creative or text generation domains
• Experience with AWS Cloud
• Experience with building, deploying, and managing Docker images
