Why is this role important: 
The Director Strategic Sourcing – IT, will join a team of others reporting to the Sr. Director, EPG – IT and SC. The main responsibilities for the Director will be to share the management responsibility of the IT category. They will be responsible for developing and leading strategy in the IT category for all of Loblaw divisions and affiliates. They influence $600M in IT spend and work with over 450 vendors to drive towards our $10M+ dollar Savings target. They will be asked to manage multiple internal and external partners. and respond to business partners’ requirements and needs. Additionally, this individual will develop sourcing events, analyze the supply market and ensuring all compliance objectives from a contractual standpoint are met. They will lead a team of Category Managers and will be responsible for completion of the entire strategic sourcing process (sourcing, negotiations, contracting, etc.) and for supplier relationship management. 


What you'll do:

  • Engage Business partners proactively to find opportunities to improve TCO of category products and services, provide market insights, and address vendor performance and process issues 

  • Develop and implement category plans and procurement strategies consistent with overall Technology and Procurement objectives 

  • Develop and present strategic initiates and improvement opportunities to Technology and Enterprise Procurement Leadership, to obtain sponsorship 

  • Take category ownership and manage spend, vendor base and contracts for Enterprise Technology procurement 

  • Lead complex contract negotiations, manage multiple partners and influence decision making to minimize Enterprise risk 

  • Prioritize and manage all strategic sourcing initiatives for managed category; 

  • Work the Supplier Relationship Manager with monitoring and managing: 

  • category performance and any corrective action when required 

  • vendor performance against contract obligations 

  • Serve as a resource to resolve issues/problems 

  • Manage vendor relationships and implement vendor performance management techniques in accordance with standards and guidelines 

  • Constantly monitor vendor market and find opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts (e.g., entry or exit of vendors, changes in pricing) 

  • Work with a team of Analysts, Category Managers and Contract Specialists to deliver on category objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to implement Technology category management standard processes (e.g. mega-supplier strategy, price benchmarking, annual sub-category review) 

  • Working knowledge of category management 

  • Understanding and demonstrated ability of the advanced procurement techniques 

  • PC skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Experience with Ariba and Fieldglass 

  • 6-8 years category management, sourcing and analytical skills or equivalent work experience specifically within Information Technology 

  • Knowledge of the Information Technology and Telecommunications industries 

  • Preference is for someone with functional experience in a progressive IT environment in both strategic and tactical roles 

  • A minimum of BS/BComm in business, a quantitative field or engineering 

  • External procurement certification preferred
