OVERVIEW:

Provides measurement, evaluation and assessment services relating to data quality and data production.  Provides process evaluation and performance monitoring solutions through the management and execution of data quality processing.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform advanced data profiling and discovery to identify trends and statistical anomalies related to data quality.
  • Evaluate large datasets for quality, accuracy, and perform advanced data analysis using applications or querying datasets to assess initial data quality.
  • Establish process and strategy for Extra, Transform and Load (ETL)/Data-Load & Data Integration based data quality assessment and controls.
  • Build Data Quality (DQ) process controls across multiple source systems of various formats.
  • Design and implement DQ controls based on types of data movement through the ETL and importance of data elements.
  • Review code created by developers, ensure standards are followed, and review the code deployment.  Confirm expected code migrated to higher environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate internal customer requirements into engaging visualization solutions. Deliver best-in-class reporting standards that illuminate business insight while ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Mentor and assist less experienced team members.
  • Determine level of business impact for data quality issues.
  • Monitor, identify, assess, document, and communicate potential quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used.
  • Research and determine scope and complexity of data quality issues to identify steps to remediate issues.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Experience in one or more database technologies
  • Expert in Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience in the collection and management of metadata 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Experience in designing ETL/Data integration processes
  • Experience in physical data modelling
  • Experience with dimensions of DQ rules like completeness, validity, accuracy, timeliness
  • Experience using data quality and governance tools
  • Experience with ETL/Data integration and Data Warehouse

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
