The Opportunity:

As a Technical Writer you would be responsible for documenting the projects instructional, technical, and training materials for all aspects of a DoD Financial Management System. This includes identifying and recommending product or solution characteristics that optimize their ability for professional documentation. Work with all levels of the technical and customer teams to collect requirements for document development. Assist in implementing and refining the documentation, system Help, and Quality Assurance processes. Conducts thorough reviews and assist with auditing of documentation and completeness of artifacts for the program. Assist with efforts of coordinating, tracking, and refining deliverables for Agile methodology, CDRLs, QA, and Security Certification efforts like Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Responsibilities:

Working with management, functional analysts and other team members on the project to gather requirements for documentation needs for the web-based application for the Department of the Army supporting various commands.

Performs artifact and deliverable reviews as part of the Peer Review and Documentation process and assists in improving the process for the team.

Refines and contributes to the team’s Configuration Management and Quality Process and any customer contractual requirements for Quality Assurance and Internal Auditing.

Assists with documentation for Tiered level customer support on Helpdesk and Training presentations. Assist team with documentation and process implementation for a transition to Agile methodology.

Coordinates all functional and technical documentation and potential requirements gathering or status meetings with team and client reviewing all customer briefs, white papers, and distributed material.

Qualifications:

Required: 

Has obtained a University Degree or equivalent experience of approximately 4 - 6 years of technical writing and documentation.

Demonstrated level of knowledge and ability for functional and technical documentation updating for quality delivery to clients.

Experience with multiple MS Office suite software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.

Experience with RoboHelp or other equivalent Help System Tools for implementing with web software. Ability to create custom and quality graphics, tables, and visual representations of data.

Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude and ability to operate under less daily supervision. Excellent communication skills; written and orally.

Desired: 

Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process; including all aspects of requirements and artifact creation.

Knowledge of SharePoint, Robohelp and/or other Help/Support systems for improved organization.

Effective with document organization, layout, implementing effective art assets, and proofing in a timely manner.

Familiarity or willingness to learn the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Process in Information Assurance (IA).

Knowledge or willingness to learn Agile Methodology and assist team in documenting process and participating in a designated Agile/SCRUM role for the team.

Willingness to achieve a security clearance if required by customer (Secret)

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$78,700 - $165,300
