What You Will Achieve

The Artificial Intelligence Data and Analytics (AIDA) Platform Delivery and Operations team provides a comprehensive suite of integrated technologies that are core components of Pfizer’s data and analytics ecosystem. The Director, Analytics Platform Delivery is accountable for all aspects of product management, engineering, and delivery for a subset of the technologies that are managed by the Platform Delivery and Operations team. This crucial role leads high performing teams delivering and managing analytic/data platforms that are necessary to achieve the roadmap, vision and strategy for Pfizer’s Analytics and Data ecosystem.  They work alongside other platform, project, data, product, and support teams, ensuring that the platform capabilities are aligned to global and BU level.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, engineering, security, compliance, release management, financial management, product roadmap, and service / operational oversight of key Pfizer data / analytics technologies.

  • People management of a team of engineers who operate in a matrixed model across the Analytics and Data technology ecosystem.

  • Relationship management and oversight of external partners / technology suppliers (including software license and cloud hosting agreements).

  • Practice lead / thought leader for one or more data and analytics practice areas.  Practice areas include data engineering, machine learning, data quality, data governance, and data visualization, graph database, etc.

  • Partnering with senior leaders to understand and influence business objectives that may leverage Pfizer’s expanding data and analytics ecosystem.

This means:

  • A detailed understanding of the analytics and data landscape, both inside and outside of Pfizer. 

  • The candidate will have demonstrable subject matter expertise in multiple of our foundational technologies/areas such as cloud infrastructure / architecture, database design and data modelling, artificial intelligence / machine learning, and business intelligence and reporting. 

  • Be a champion of innovation within the immediate and wider team, developing resources and processes to adopt innovative thinking and approach to problems. Take appropriate risks to move quickly, make mistakes and pivot when needed in the pursuit of the desired results. Guide reports on acceptable levels of risk-taking under the same model.

  • Establish close partnerships with AIDA colleagues to ensure alignment in all areas of development strategy, process, operational needs, DevOps culture and other areas relevant to excellence in the asset lifecycle of assets in the portfolio. Ensure strong alignment of vision and strategies in how A&D delivers and runs its technologies.

  • Embrace a DevSecOps mentality and ensure the model’s success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and far quicker delivery of output.

  • Take part in the culture of measurement, learning and feedback.

  • Leverage industry best practice and experience to ensure that security is baked into deliverables from the start, and that the platform/project/program fully embraces a DevSecOps and mentality.

  • Develop plans for managing talent inside and outside of the immediate span of control and ensure that leadership bench strength is taken into consideration. Ensure the talent base has the skills required to complete tasks of today and be prepared for the changing and more complex business needs of tomorrow.

  • Providing technical oversight and mentorship for geographically dispersed colleagues and contracted team members.

  • Technical coordination and collaboration with Pfizer Digital service providers both within and outside the AIDA team: Digital Client Partners, Digital Architecture, Digital Creation Centers, and Enterprise Platform and Security teams.   

  • Fostering an engineering culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Develop innovative or original ideas and lead/co-lead divisional projects.

  • Develop plans that impact the achievement of divisional results.

  • Lead, oversee and contribute to matrix project teams including other Digital functions, service providers and external partners to deliver business value and achieve objectives.

  • Lead and collaborate with Product Managers and Application Support service providers to identify and improve systems, processes and services to meet service levels and business continuity needs to achieve desired outcomes from medical affairs interactions with customers.

  • Influence and communicate new or complex ideas effectively using varied tools and techniques to influence different audiences across organizations and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines or 12+ years industry experience in technical leadership roles.

  • Experience as a Product Manager of digital assets or technology platforms.

  • People management experience that includes coaching and mentoring engineering talent.

  • Experience architecting and managing large scale data and analytics ecosystems and platforms.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors / suppliers of enterprise software.

  • Experience managing a complex budget of licenses, infrastructure, and services.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with increasing responsibility designing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale, global systems and platforms.

  • Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with multiple of the following technologies:

  • Amazon Web Services.

  • Cloud analytic databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, and BigQuery.

  • Analytic tools and platforms such as Tableau, Spotfire, Dataiku, RStudio/Posit, SAS, and Alteryx.

  • Data warehouse, data lake, data lakehouse ecosystems.

Overall

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner and influence resources outside of the immediate span of control.

  • Ability to lead in a complex, matrixed environment with geographically distributed resources.

  • Ability to take a systematic approach to estimation of technical projects.

  • Excellent skills in analysis, critical thinking and planning, oral and written communication, consensus building, facilitation, negotiation and the ability to readily learn a new business area.

  • Technology solutions delivery in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment a bonus.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
