Key Position Details:

**Must live within commuting distance of the Allina Commons Minneapolis, MN**

  • 1.0 FTE (40-hours per week)

  • 8-hour day shifts (flexible start times between the hours of 7a-7p)

  • No weekends

Job Description:

Ensures compliance with the MN Hospital Screening Bill. Responsible to lead the work of the Financial Screening Specialist team in processing the Hospital Presumptive Eligibility applications and complete affidavit of expert review prior to referral of debt to a collection agency, law firm or any legal collection action.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Employee Training and Development
    • Ensure new hires are adequately trained to demonstrate best practices according to department standards. Meet with team members to discuss information updates and training opportunities to ensure procedures are followed correctly for:
      ◦ HPE Application Processing
      ◦ Bad Debt Expert Review for referral of accounts to collection agency
      ◦ Authorization of lawsuit and garnishment for accounts placed with the collection agency
    • Maintain and update training and reference materials.
  • Perform Quality Audits
    • Perform quality audits for assigned team members to ensure accuracy in work completed.
    • Audits include but are not limited to bad debt work queue processes, HPE application processing, phone calls, failed mail, and suit/garnishment authorization.
  • Productivity Tracking
    • Track and calculate productivity score for each member of assigned team, utilizing phone reports and Epic standard reporting.
  • Daily Staff Support
    • Maintain proficiency in all FSS team work to act as immediate resource aiding with staff questions, troubleshooting patient accounts, providing education and guidance on use of procedures and reference materials.
    • Take escalated calls when needed to resolve patient concern.
  • Collaboration with Other Departments
    • Trouble shoot workflow issues.
    • Act as primary support for department manager.
    • Participate with leaders and staff collaboratively to identify opportunity for process improvement and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 5+ years revenue cycle or healthcare insurance experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years customer service or medical collections experience

Pay Range

Pay Range: $22.71 to $31.13 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
