The opportunity:
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading our financial reporting function. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your technical expertise, leadership skills, and passion for driving process improvements. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Financial Reporting team to meet objectives and deadlines
Leading month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journals, analysing transactions and providing commentary, reviewing reconciliations, and performing internal controls
Preparing and reviewing statutory financial reports, including financial statements, climate statements, RBNZ returns, and more
Collaborating with internal and external auditors
Monitoring accounting policies and providing timely technical advice
Managing risk arising from business and process changes and driving automation and efficiency improvements
Building strong relationships across the business and with AIA Group counterparts.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
5+ years in a similar accounting role, preferably within financial services, with SAP GL exposure
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, regulatory requirements, and accounting policies
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders at all levels
An analytical mindset with a track record of implementing process improvements
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Associate Chartered Accountant / Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) with a tertiary degree in accounting or finance.
