Collaborating closely with a diverse cross-functional team, you'll wield your influence to shape decisions and deliver top-notch Developer Experiences enabling small businesses worldwide.
At PayPal, Senior XD’s play a pivotal role in steering teams towards customer-centric solutions throughout the product development journey. This entails leveraging data and research to drive design concepts and decision-making processes. Beginning with the right questions and culminating in refined deliverables, our designers are adept storytellers, attentive listeners, tech enthusiasts, and masters of their craft.
In this role, you'll advocate for customer needs, spearhead project execution in complex or strategic product domains, and forge strong connections across different domains and cross-functional teams. Your core focus will center on designing seamless integration experiences for our products, bridging the coordination between developers and merchants, and contributing to the growth and development of a world-class developer community.
Your Day-to-Day
Lead the identification and resolution of complex customer problems by defining their needs.
Utilize insights effectively to shape customer-centric product strategies.
Act as a vital liaison between design, product management, and engineering teams.
Present compelling design rationale and adeptly negotiate for user needs.
Demonstrate mastery in design tools and techniques, setting and maintaining high standards.
Independently manage intricate projects from inception to completion.
Drive strategic change initiatives, advocating for user-centric approaches.
Effectively articulate the ROI of design decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
Utilize design systems, style guides, patterns, and assets to craft intuitive and user-friendly developer experiences. Contribute to the enhancement of these systems based on specific developer needs.
Promote and engage with the ecosystem to understand, leverage, and connect with the developer community as part of their own charters.
What You Need to Bring
Bachelor's degree with 4-5 years or Master's degree with 3-4 years of experience in design, research, or related fields.
Experience designing products and platforms, including native apps, focusing on both consumer and enterprise experiences, including systems design.
Proficiency with standard design and prototyping tools like Figma, Miro, Asana, and similar platforms.
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and to translate customer requirements into data-driven hypotheses.
Strong communication skills to effectively gather feedback from developers through diverse methods, such as user testing, surveys, and interviews.
Experience in working with cross-functional teams to facilitate the development and delivery of developer tools, fostering inclusivity.
Familiarity with coding and practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated curiosity and a passion for pushing boundaries, delighting customers, and delivering meaningful impact.
