The financial analyst forecasting systems and reporting acts as the system administrator for UI Planner, the software system used to create the company’s financial forecast. This position works independently to administer the UI system. This position applies financial accounting knowledge and understanding of financial transactions combined with IT systems and data knowledge to ensure transactions are modeled correctly. This position is responsible for creating forecast scenarios, managing system accesses, providing technical assistance for questions and requests, coordinating with UI vendor and company IT for troubleshooting issues or coordinating system upgrades. This position provides training for UI planner for UI users.
This position also leads the budget and 5-year forecast process for the Other Segment, modeling all financial transactions for Other Segment and ensuring budgets align correctly. This includes budgeting and modeling money pool and intercompany accounts.
Administers the UI planner system. Including acting as the technical expert on the system and how financial transactions are modeled in the system.
Ensures UI planner system is operating correctly, works with IT and vendor partners to troubleshoot all system issues, and coordinates system updates. Role acts as the key contact in any new build outs/improvements/testing of UI planner.
Provides direction and training to UI planner users in forecasting and tax.
Creates, opens, and closes forecast scenarios in UI planner. Plans/coordinates/executes any UI planner training, testing, build out.
Performs financial actualization for the forecast tool.
Provides support for the rate case process in all regulated jurisdictions to produce schedules required for rate case filings and related discovery requests.
Provides guidance to team members to ensure scenarios are updated. Role is the key contact to problem solve UI planner issues/questions.
Develops UI system improvements and methods for using the system to model complex financial transactions.
Ensures transactions are modeled in compliance with accounting rules and forecast expectations.
Leads the 5-year forecast process for the Other Segment, modeling all financial transactions for Other Segment and ensuring budgets align correctly.
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
Five (5) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
Eight (8) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Strong systems and technology skills and regulated accounting experience
Possesses and applies comprehensive and strategic knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures to complete complex assignments
Masters in Accounting or MBA
CPA, CIA, CFA or CMA is strongly encouraged for achieving the Lead Analyst level or higher position
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
Office Environment
Must have 5+ years (8+ desired) of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree. Requires CFO Staff approval.
Years of prior equivalent work related experience in lieu of a degree is N/A unless grandfathered in and requires CFO Staff approval.
