POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Advisor will play a critical role in the successful implementation of the Community Banking Business Unit (CB) to achieve its vision and mission to better serve underrepresented entrepreneurs across Canada. The successful candidate will support the Community Banking Leadership Team (CBLT) to design and execute the business unit operating model and ensure sound stakeholder alignment. The Senior Advisor will also support design of the business model by completing market analysis, identifying growth opportunities, and contributing to risk management analysis. The individual will be responsible to produce data and reporting, implement a governance structure as well as identify and address barriers to the successful implementation of the business unit within the organization.

The ideal candidate is a natural problem solver, will have a strong background in strategic planning, business development, and consulting, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills. We are looking for a team player who provides guidance, feedback, and coaching to the project teams and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Work closely with the Vice-President, Community Banking to define and document the Community Banking Unit operating model, target customer segments and related value proposition(s)

  • In collaboration with the CBLT, establish ways of working and governance strategy to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (ex. Internal Partners such as Finance, Risk, Legal and External Partners such as FACE)

  • Implement communication strategy to keep stakeholders abreast of key milestones regarding financial solutions and partnerships strategies
    (ex. FACE, Futrepreneur and micro-lending platform)

  • Develop and execute a measurement strategy to provide efficient data and reporting to measure the performance and impact of CB financial solutions and partnerships using appropriate metrics and indicators.

  • Leverage internal and external resources, to conduct benchmarking analysis of the external and internal environments to identify the needs of underserved entrepreneurs; including industry trends and competitive offers (Ex. research & benchmark existing micro-lending platforms)

  • Design presentation material and executive summary documentation for senior executives with a coherent and compelling narrative based on qualitative and quantitative insights (Ex. Board of Directors, SMC, COO Leadership Team)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners based on trust and strong business acumen

  • Act as a sounding board to CBLT to guide reflection of business model based on the principles of design thinking

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.

  • Passion for working underserved entrepreneurs and appetite to learn about barriers they face

  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic planning, project management or consulting, preferably in a similar industry or sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis and synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning and project management frameworks, tools, and techniques and manage and execute cross-functional and high-impact projects and initiatives.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and constructively with diverse teams and stakeholders, and influence and drive change.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with various audiences, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Project, and other relevant software

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset
