Summary of Job Duties:

The Clinical Services Manager (CSM) is a clinical leadership position in the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute’s (PRI) Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) and is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations of the off-campus Pulaski County Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), including patient care and clinic/unit business processes. The CSM is responsible for leading, managing, and mentoring the CSU clinical staff. The CSM is responsible for all building operations for this off-site unit and is the designated contact person for all of the support services needed to manager this unit. The CSM reports to the BHSL Senior Nursing Director and is part of a team that supports the daily operation of the PRI inpatient units. The CSM identifies problems impacting patient care activities and assists in the ongoing evaluation of the unit’s goals for patient care. The CSM will attend meetings and participate in various PRI and hospital committees and will be part of a team that ensures adherence to UAMS standards of patient care. The CSM ensures continuing Survey readiness for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation and all other licensing organizations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

• Registered Nurse License by the state of Arkansas by the Board of Nursing

• 5 or more years of experience in the field of Nursing, with at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexible, ability to independently problem-solve

• Must possess strong leadership and mentoring abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)

• At least 5 years of experience in psychiatry, 1 year of inpatient management/leadership experience, interviewing and selecting staff

• Scheduling for inpatient, knowledge and skill to interpret and apply clinical inpatient attendance policies

• Ensures operations are consistent with the overall direction, goals, and focus of the program to include timely response to regulatory agency audit requests, and verifying that required regulatory forms are submitted on time.

• Drives consistent, system-wide service line approach across all facilities in conjunction with processes and standards set by the Institution’s Leadership.

• Ensure efficient business operations (including process improvement) of all aspects of the service line to facilitate patient access, expense management, productivity, patient safety, and patient-family-centered care.

• Recruits and retains qualified individuals who possess the competencies to achieve high levels of performance.

• Ensure adequate staffing to create a safe, effective, and efficient work unit.

• Manage performance to meet established standards, including but not limited to financial, quality, staffing, service, and safety.

• Utilize a system-based approach to identify, address, improve, and resolve any operational or performance issues or gaps.

• Functions as an effective and productive member of the leadership team by actively contributing to overall strategic planning, vision, and mission implementation for the Service Line.
